MikroTik

Yeah just seen picture top down and bottom end of the unit from top down has holes, could put little plastic rings on it before screwing into the wall to keep it off the wall for ventilation. Will have a good read on this and YT the RouterOS to see what its like, but the PoE one would be great and would replace my switch and Router. Thumbs up so far

In general is the kit any good? I know its fairly cheap and the OS can be difficult for newbies but wondering what you have used and your review on it?
Pretty darn good bang for the buck. In general well laid out hardware and RoS is fine and will do most things you’ll throw at it and then some. Review score 8.5/10

I held off moving to v7 until earlier this year but apart from a few config quirks that don't translate well from v6 have had no issues there either.
Same. Moved over to 7 when shifting from Tile-based 1000 series to Annapurna/ARM based 2000 series. 7 has been pretty stable

Will this RB5009UPr+S+IN be able to power 2x Alta AP6 access Points on PoE?

I get the access points use 20w max, I don’t understand the weird wording around the MikroTik voltage and if the source is the Pin (normal brick) will be able to power these access points?

Think you can see the setup I am thinking...

IF that fails I will do the following;

2x Alta AP6 (One upstairs and one downstairs)
1x NetGear GS308EP
1x MikroTik RB750GR3

Price difference for this vs 1x RB5009UPr+S+IN is around £70 less (because EU version + UK brick, not waiting for UK version to come in).

Why would I plugin NAS, Sky and FireStick into Router and not Switch, simply they are going to be more intensive than the TV and BluRay player which rarely get used, saves on the 1Gb trunk back to the router, I could LACP these with 2Gb, but overkill for my use.

@Mak

It can handle 1 Gigabit of package switching under an optimal configuration. However, it fizzles out at around 380 Mbps for routing, so it won’t be enough to handle a full Gigabit internet connection. That’s more than enough for most customers, though.
