Just creating a thread here for the discussion of the introduction of 5G standalone folks.

You can continue to post in any of the various network threads too of course, but just thought I'd create a dedicated thread for the subject in case it might help keep the forums a wee bit tidier. 😊

Don't forget to share your SA results here from Vodafone or o2 when you can actually connect to the service. (y)

We're all a bit desperate to see what's what. 😁

Another thread to add to the list of threads I see 😂

I'm sure half of them you've made 😂

Just tried the relatively recently upgraded to 5G Vodafone mast at the bottom of Kilwinning, but sadly, it's not to be. :(

(Not that I have a Vodafone SIM anyway, it's a Lebara)

The real mystery is why iPhones as far back as the iPhone 12 are supported for 5G SA on various carriers in the US and elsewhere in the world, and yet Vodafone are dragging their heels on supporting them here in the UK.

I'm going to go to Edinburgh tomorrow or Monday in hope of finding some o2 SA, but I'm not feeling hopeful given what other areas have been like. I'll take my 3 and EE SIM too and see how they perform.
Edinburgh isn't on the list Tom153619, so that probably could mean you'll find it just fine. 😁

Best of luck in 'Auld Reekie' 🤞

🙄 Silly me I forgot to check and just assumed it would be there

Vodafone 5G SA is available to my postcode apparently (Southampton). Makes sense as Cellmapper has shown towers near me having SA enabled. I understand they only give a limited amount of devices that it's available to (I have an S22 Ultra) but I wonder if it's an account-specific limitation and if I had an active SIM would there be a reason why it wouldn't work in an MC7010?

Not sure I fancy paying £30+ on a Vodafone SIM to test bearing in mind others have mentioned waiting for a txt/activation that doesn't come anyway.

If you buy a VF Sim online it gets delivered via eSIM instantly and you have 14 days to cancel

There was quite a lot of Vodafone SA in Glasgow too, but they are old entries of about 2 years ago, nothing new since.

Taking them by their wording however, they state 5G SA is available "if you take a pay monthly plan" and the only pay monthly options are sim+handsets. So I'm not sure an esim (or sim) will work?

Would note this list ain't extensive, Wolves also gets SA coverage despite only being listed if you put a postcode in.

Not that I have a direct Vodafone SIM to test with
