Modem Mode on Hub 5x

It's not behind CGNAT, it's the fact the options aren't available!
Really? ffs. I was willing to suffer a brain haemorrhage potentially dealing with VM customer services to get full fibre, but I reckon that might be a deal breaker. Though, I can still run my own router behind the VM one with L2TP on it for my hosted services but that really sucks.

I may have completely misread, or misunderstood, the last few posts but Port Forwarding is definitely available on the Hub5X - I'm looking at the respective page in the WebUI as we speak.

Ah, phew! Actually wouldn't matter for me as I'm going to be encapsulating behind L2TP anyway.

Apologies, I believe there may have been a problem with it in earlier software releases.

i got in touch in virgin, modem mode should have been released in jan 2024, due in april at the moment. they put on my account i can leave penalty free since its a major bodge on there end. no other full fibre provider to fall back to though

Modem mode would be superb, given I can't even order VM yet, the timing may well work out perfectly for me.

I ordered VM gig1 with the symmetrical speed option on the 29th Feb but had to cancel due to the lack of modem mode option, took me a whole hour on the phone to reach someone to cancel with in my 14 day cooling off period though!! Funny story, ordered it at 11pm on the 29th, and the next day, 1st March, 9am, engineers turned up to blow the fibre and fit the external termination box on the outside wall. Internal install date was 14th, ironically exactly the 14-day cooling off period I guess - they could almost do a next day install. Yes I know VM not the best but it's VM or VDSL here :(

Same here for now. I wouldn't let modem mode put you off for now - double NAT isn't all that bad, just makes port forwarding slightly more of a headache.

Apparently you also can't change the VM routers LAN IP, is that true? Guess who's internal network is already 192.168.0.0 based :/ I've been putting off re-addressing my network but I Might have to actually do it now in prep, ugh! Logic: VPN'ing into places with my current range can cause issues due to same ranges, and if I place my own router, you need two different ranges to do NAT with. Wonder if the installers are still going to show up on the 14th and try and install it? lol

At first, this seems to work, but when selecting modem mode and clicking apply you get a message confirming it that says the only way to connect back to the config pages is directly via LAN cable and using address 195.168.100.1 . After rebooting, the white light now shows green, presumably to indicate the current mode.
However, when trying to use it in Modem mode and connecting to a separate router, I found all 4 LAN ports dead. Nothing worked. So, in order to change it back, guess what, you can't connect to 192.168.100.1 because all the ports are dead! The only way was to do a reset! Of course, I lost all my wifi settings. 🤬
What I wanted to do was use the wifi scheduling in my old router as there is no such feature in the Hub 5x. So, in the end, I left the Hub 5x in the Modem+Router mode and just disabled the wifi. I was then able to use my old router with its wifi scheduling feature and connect it to the fast port on the 5x where all 4 ports were now working as normal.
I also connected an ATA box to the 5x because, thanks to the lack of wifi scheduling and the non-functional phone sockets on the 5x, I now have three boxes when one should do all three jobs!!

My Hub5x is 1.2.1b but I'm not seeing Modem mode.

EDIT - My wife and I are both WFH today so I can't restart the hub until after 6 pm to see if that 'forces' a software update.

Good to see some movement on this - although just checked mine and there's no Modem Mode option.

My Hub 5X hardware version does show as 1.2.1 though.

Wonder what the difference is between 1.2.1 and 1.2.1b?

I've had both 1.2.1 and 1.2.1b and no difference in software version.

Strange thought we'd have got the same one, mine is 1.2.1b - but still no modem mode so i doubt it makes a different :D

Was told by an engineer that its only those on 2gig getting it? which is weird as i trialed the 2ggi and never had it, Unless its something new o.0 maybe they just slowly rolling it out.

That can't be right, one of the screenshots I've seen over on reddit was from someone on a Gig1 connection - but I think they did have the Upload Speed add-on (although I could be getting confused).

I've had 2gig, and currently on 1000/1000 and still not had the Software update.
