Morning all, anyone having trouble getting on to Pipex?

It's been such a while that I was here I've had to reregister...!

Just tried connecting this morning to xtreme and keep getting "user/password not on the domain" errors.

I haven't changed a thing since I was on last night at midnight, but tried each of the 3 ADSL modes anyone and get the same acces is denied errors.

Is it just me? Pipex haven't got anything up on their website about any outages.... :(

Same for me, but I can't even get onto the website, and can't receive any e-mails, which is a bugger, as I have stuff going on on Ebay. There is an emergency dial up number, 0808 991 6035, which you are supposed to be able to use your usual details with, but even that doesn't work. They obviously have major problems, and it must have happened overnight, as I was on till gone midnight, last night. Does anyone have a contact phone number?

Simon, no offence but I'm glad it's not just me, I don't feel so lonely now :)

Pipex are usually fairly reliable for me so I suppose they can have an off day, I don't especially need to get on but it sounds like you do...

Try the number below for support and I've put the email too.

0845 077 8324

support@dsl.pipex.net

By the way I didn't know about the dial up number thanks for that

There is a major outage with pipex this morning I beleive it was around 5am when some reported it going down.

I will look for any news and post it here.

Well thank God everyone else is suffering too!

I too can't get on and am having to revert to my subsonic Virgin dial-up. I was starting to think it may be something else, as I was downloading a few browsers yesterday.

I'm starting to think that any ISP that only offers support during office hours is pants.

Pipex Support is not available on a Sunday!

I thought I was going bonkers when I couldn't get on. They hadn't even given me the free dial-up before. I have to use my slow wanadoo dialup to do this.

Ho-hum!

Let's hope it gets sorted and they haven't done something silly like gone under!

Had to go all around the houses to find this, but…:

Connectivity Outage Report:

27/06/04 at 11:30 N/A
Report: Failure of a major network component has resulted in a loss of service for PIPEX Xtreme ADSL customers (both on ADSL and 0845) and for DialTime customers.
Symptoms: Connection to the network and many servers is not currently possible.
Actions: An engineering team are working on the problem as a matter of the highest possible priority, but it is likely that service will not be restored until mid-afternoon Sunday at the earliest.

We sincerely apologise for this interruption to service.

Tried to log-on at 2 pm today ...... couldn't; did something else for 45 minutes; tried again, and was successful.

Their website seems to be down, at the moment.

First time this has happened in a WHILE!

Yup, we're back!

Just a thought - would it have been a good idea to have put a pre-recorded message on their support number to explain that there was a problem at their end?.

It was engaged for most of the day anyway so that wouldn't have been much use :P

Strange - I have been connected all day with no problems! I wouldn't have even known there was a problem if I hadn't seen the main news item!

It was obviously a fairly major outage, which they managed to resolve fairly quickly.

The questions are though...could they have kept user's better informed and shouldn't an ISP the size of Pipex offer helpdesk support outside of office hours. I think most likely yes to both.

They clearly see home users as less of a support priority.

In stead of posting in large leters why not tell the members calmly exactly what is the matter.

If its migrating from pipex I kow many that have with no problems. Lets see if being rational can sort out your problem.
