Most robust VPSs?

Hi Everyone

Does anyone here have any idea which company has the most robust, fully redundant, always-on VPSs in the world?

My definition of a VPS is a broad as possible. (Some companies do not refer to their VPSs as VPSs.)

Thank you very much.

You are asking quite a bit. I don't have a straight answer.. but:

- here's my 3 euro VPS with Hetzner, never had a problem with it:
root@de ~]# w
20:26:49 up 266 days, 9:37, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.12, 0.16

- 1&1 (Ionos) £1 VPS, also zero issues:
root@ionos1:~# w
19:28:39 up 267 days, 15:53, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

- my dedicated server in another country, again zero issues:
root@ro3:~# w
21:30:40 up 361 days, 4:14, 1 user, load average: 0.72, 0.78, 0.82

The hardware and software nowadays have become very good and in the right hands it can prove a very good platform without costing the moon.

If you are after something specifically highly available, but a bit pricier I can recommend these guys:

If you can share more about what you are trying to achieve, maybe we can offer different advice.

Hi Lucian

Thank you very much indeed for your very informative reply.

I am wanting to instal a few progams on it including a SIP sever. If the server or network is shut down unexpectedly, this might interrupt a very important phone call.

The company pcextreme.com looks very interesting. However, it seem that they do not do Windows which I want.

Ah, right. Windows is a problem with many providers, few bother offering it.
Try these guys https://www.exoscale.com/compute/

Hi Mezner

Thank you very much for your reply.

To be honest, I am somwhat reluctant to go with Oracle because of what is mentioned in the "Controversies" section of Oracle's page on Wikipedia. The worst controversy is that Oracle has assisted the Chinese miltary in their operations againt Taiwan.

I don't trust the prime minister as his wife's company Infosys still operates in Russia even after all the sanctions.

Hehe, that's all the free tier, isn't it :)
I had a VM with them, too, in the free tier, but decided not to go ahead with using it as I think it's just a matter of time till they will limit or end this tier and then I don't want to have to spend Lord knows how much until I can migrate my stuff. Best avoided.

Also, their DC in London (Hayes) melted last summer during the 40C wave, they had a total downtime AFAIK, took them a couple of days to come back up fully if memory serves.

Hi Lucian and Meritez

I have been looking again at yesterday's posts and I have discovered that in two of my posts (one each), I accidently spelled your names wrong. I am very sorry about this. I am dyslexic.

No worries.. "What's in a name?.." :)

UPDATE:

I have just obtained a cx11 server from Hetzner and I have managed to install Windows Server 2019 on it. I did so with the help of the following absolutely brilliant YouTube video:

I would not have been able to do it without the above video.

There are moments in the video where you need to pay very close attention to what he is doing in order that you can get it right when you do it.

He has made huge effort to make sure you know exactly what to do in order to get the best possible outcome.

I now need to activate it. I will do so using the following:
