Move number out of 3 to another provider but keep account open

Hi,

I have no idea if this is possible but I would like to move my existing 3 number to another provider. I’m in a contract though so need this account to stay open but be assigned another number.

Is this at all possible?

Thank you

I moved my Three number to Tesco last year. The Three account was still accessible to view online, so it was not closed as such.
When I started a new contract with Three, I could not get access to my3 with the same email, this seems to be intrinsically linked to a number/account. Spent quite a while in the online chat with Three CS to get to the bottom of that. Luckily, I have another email address I could use.

I reckon if I PAC my number out I will have to pay the rest of the contract off which I don’t want to do. Think I will have to leave the number where it is for now!

Yes Three’s system is pretty restrictive. I had three accounts for 3 SIMs but at least I could login using each number but have the same email. They then changed their system login to include the email address.

Why they can’t have a single account for more than one SIM like EE I don’t know

As you have discovered they do not support a PAC and a new number so you have to wait and request a PAC towards the end of contract. If they are barring reuse of previous email addresses the solution is probably is to create a unique one for THREE that you can throw away when needed.

The number of times access to THREE accounts is down is also frustrating. We will have to await what they do on the merge but it will these restrictions will probably with us for some time.

I think their site is poor even compared to MVNOs.

You can, their new system allows multiple lines on a single login.

Thanks. I will have a look. I had three accounts previously and now have two (both in my name and address). The MyTHREE app allows the accounts to be linked but they behave separately with separate Emails addresses.

Searching the community there does appear to be a resolution but there also appears to be plenty of customers like me who cannot get it resolved via help desk or store previously. I will have another go. Possibly a procedural thing rather than a technical one now.

Multiple accounts may make their stats look good.

Some email providers support + addressing (Gmail for instance does) so you can do email+3acc1@domain.tld .etc , as to if 3's login form can handle it is another matter.

It would be easy enough to test this just send yourself an email with something appended to the end and if you get it then you know it works.

FYI Three didn't allow the + addressing 7-8months ago, when I last tried

I left Three because logging in to my account was such a shitshow. I had to log in twice to actually see my account and it seemed to be a messy jumble of garbage.

This is possible but it's quite a hassle to arrange:
1. Order a free PAYG line on the same account
2. Contact Three CS and request to swap the numbers on the contract line and the PAYG line
3. Port out from the PAYG line

You'll probably have to go through quite a few different advisors until you get one who can/ will help with No 2
