Moving from Tiscali and...

...wish to clarify something.

I have today given a month's notice to end Tiscali Broadband, seeking to avail myself of AOL's 512k for £17.99.

Tiscali - bless 'em - will not give me a Migration Authorisation Code, so I have to await contact from AOL that I can make the switch.

When eventually the exchange makes the switch over, will I still be able to access Tiscali Broadband for the duration of my month's notice, or does it get cut off at that point?

Clarification would be greatly appreciated.
:o

If its a cancel and reprovide you will have some down time where a good 56K ISP would be useful.

Tiscali can't give you migration as they use Datastream the mac code for migration is IPstream

In other words, in a few days when they switch over, I'll lose my connection and need to set-up a dial-up connection to tide me over? :smilet:

They should give you a date that your ADSL will cease on and that is when you can reorder ASL.
I should wait till you have the date

You have to admit that this sucks, and its BT's fault.

OFCOM really ought to have got their teeth into this issue amongst others. Its detrimential to competition, as users are unlikely to change provider if they know they're going to get disconnected for a couple of weeks or more.

Its one of a few reasons why I won't change to adsl.

I have to say though Pete, that despite this hassle, once you get accustomed to a broadband connection, you'd never go back. It is a blasted nuisance, but the lesser of two evils.

That said, you're quite right. Transitional issues like this should have been resolved ages ago.
