Yeah.

I've used alot for mail... Kmail, Pagasus, Eudora, OE, Outlook XP, Outlook 2003, TheBat!...

I found my preferences lay with Thunderbird completely. Not only that it is free and open source! You can even download optimized builds specific to your computer setup...

This is the way forward.

What, did the browser download itself to your computer, steal all the associations for web pages, and remove all access to IE??? :p :p :p

if you want email as well, use the Mozilla suite

If you want Firefox as well as email, use Mozilla Thunderbird

Firefox = browser
Thunderbird = mail/news client

Firefox was made to be a browser, and a browser is all it is, it can be extended from how it is out of the box. Take a look at http://texturizer.net/firefox/index.html

Depends what you are looking for.

Mozilla = browser, mail, html writer thingy, irc client, loads of features out of the box

Firefox = browser only, not as many features out of the box, but can do a lot more with extensions

Firefox and Thunderbird are due to replace the Mozilla suite as soon as they mature.

I proved to myself that Firefox can format pages faster than Mozilla, not that it matters, as our internet connections are no where near as fast as loading a test page from the hard drive, dont let that skew your choice though

I stuck with Mozilla until I give Firefox a chance, took hours to get it the way I wanted it mind

I'm using Firefox now, sylpheed is my mail client (Linux), and I do prefer it over Mozilla 1.6. I find 1.6 overweight, loads from cache too slowly and is slow, though I had used the browser since version 1.3 and do think it's a far better browser for the Win32 userthan IE, and definately reccomend it's excellent cookie managment which is the same in Firefox. I would advise any Win32 user to use anything but IE, as all adware, spyware, toolbars etc, are built for the OS integrated IE and it's numerous exploits. Opera is another Netscape based alternative, this browser also has tabbed browsing, but is ad funded with a banner always present unless you buy it.

Opera isn't actually based on netscape. Its a completly seperate rendering engine and is actually smaller than firefox - even with the mail/irc/news clients options.

The lastest version the banners have got even smaller

Yes I confused myself there and I know it isn't netscape/gecko based. I agree 100% with what you say about Opera, I have Mozilla 1.6, Opera 7.32, Firefox, Konqueror, Galeon and Lynx at the moment. For some reason I can't get the text ads you have there in your sshot working on my Opera? I remember selecting the "generic selection of text ads" or whatever the option was but have never got it to work... :(
