Ndo Fup

I have been with my ISP for almost two years now. NDO are my ISP.I have been with them through thick and thin i.e. When they were accepting to many new customers and we all had little or no band with and my connection was more in keeping with a dial up connection than broadband .When I signed up there was no FUP of 30GB in place, now in the last few months this has appeared on there website. Now I am receiving e-mails threatening so severely reduce my speed. What I want to know is why can they just impose this on me? When I entered into a contract for an unlimited downloading service I expect just that download what you want (& most of my downloading is after 12 at night and before 8 in the morning)

“Over the past month, you have downloaded:  59,713 megabytes which is an average of 15 gigabytes per week.

Your current usage for your ADSL broadband is considerably over the recommendations of our Fair Usage Policy that states that a recommended maximum usage of 30gb of data download per month may be used on our ADSL Broadband products.

This high usage could indicate a Virus infection, receipt of a large quantity of spam, Spyware or other software downloading a lot of data to your computer.

We recommend that you have a look on your computer for any malicious software. The following programs are recommended:

Lavasoft's AdAware (Spyware removal) http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (free) AVG (Anti Virus) - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 (free) Avast (Anti Virus) - http://www.computeractive.co.uk/downloads/1140219 (free)
- or commercial programs such as McAfee or Norton.

If your bandwidth usage continues to remain excessively high your connection will be contended with users of a similar download usage pattern to yours. To reduce your usages impact on our lower usage users. ADSL Broadband is a contended service at 50:1 and this means sharing the bandwidth allocation with up to 50 other users at a time. Your current usage level means that you are using a disproportionately high level of the allocated bandwidth.

If you would like to discuss how you can reduce your bandwidth usage, please call our Technical Support line on 0870 200 2230 (available 24 hours) and we'll be happy to offer tips and advice.

Kind regards
