NDO Usage Monitoring Tool

With 100% full credit to: Benjamin Brown, there is now an excellent usage monitoring tool available to allow you to keep track of your ADSL Usage and allow you to stay within your package quota's nice and easily.

http://www.ndousers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1587

The tool sits in your system tray and every 15 minutes polls the NDO systems for your current ADSL Usage then dispays this and calculates amount remaining this month and how much you can use in a day etc etc.

The data NDO very kindly supplied to Mr Brown via an XML feed they created for him - I think NDO are probably the only ISP in the world who would have understood the strange request that was posted on the forum as to how to get the usage data and then to actually put a service inplace to supply the info. Very well done NDO - top notch Customer Service.

Anyway, if you are an NDO user and you want to know how much you are downloading, you need this tool.

Its excellent.

I'm surprised at how low the limits are on NDO's fair useage policy (FUP) - 30Gb / month.

Same as Freeserves, Tiscal's, BT's etc so not suprising at all.

Except with NDO - its not a "hard limit" you can go over - to it appears about 60gb before NDO ask you to reduce your usage.

You could also try Zen. A bit dearer, but they happily boast about "No Limits."

Having been kicked off Nildram after they were bought out, and my partner got kicked off NDO, we've both been on Zen now for a couple of months.
No hassles. No complaints.

As a result we now host one of our business websites with Zen. When the one hosted at NDO comes up for renewal next year, that one's moving to Zen too.

A bit dearer than the others, granted, but you get speed and no whinging. Peace of mind... almost priceless. Almost. ;)

Hmm... this started as an announcement that a new tool was available for NDO users. Perfectly sensible for LB to mention it here.

Completely on topic for the NDO ISP thread

Was there really a need for it to be taken completely off topic. The Thread was entitled NDO Usage Monitoring Tool, not Yet Another Thread About NDO'S FUP, Products & Pricing That Has The Potential To Start Going Round And Round In Circles Just Like All The Others!

NDO introduced a FUP to manage their network. Get over it and move on if the way they manage their network and/or the products they offer don't suit your needs. :)

Weirdly, some people find 5Gb suits their needs perfectly and they just got a 2Mb line for under £20.00!
