Nebula FWA510 5G NR Indoor Router from Zyxel

Thanks for your input on this ;)

I've got a sneaky suspension on this that Zyxel may have, in certain Regions, committed the NR5103 as a Service Provider Only Device, this could explain why Zyxels own Firmware Version is only available in certain Areas and not others, I also remember when the Nr5103 first came out with EE (Badged 5GEE 2021) and I tried to do some digging on the Info of the Device (mainly on the 4 Antenna Ports) and got absolutely nowhere with Zyxel, just got told to refer back to the Network Supplier of where the Device came from, likewise the original Webpage for the Device just referred to "Service Providers".

So, could be, the FWA510 is just a rebadge, maybe with some differences or add-ons to the original Device, which enables Zyxel to move forward with the Device and maybe a work around as not to infringe on any 5103 agreements that could be in place with current Network Operators or Service Providers?
You know..I think you probably hit the nail on the head.the nr5103 is a fantastic bit of kit...and so much potential for features but stripped back by the mobile operators....
As we know..cell locking is a feature on the nr5103 in certain countries..so just shows how held back good features are.
Zyxel say they have put the nr5101 end of life..which has cell lock..and focusing on the fwa510....a new product what looks..identical to the nr5103 :)
So I belive they will invest heavy in the development of this new unit..and bring all those nice features we have all craved..from the nr5103 :)

But sadly at a eye-watering price :)

I will be sure to update this post with firmware additions

First look..I see no difference at all..in looks performance and features.only difference I have seen is the addition of nebula.. and the zyxel logo :-)

I have been in talks with a rep from zyxel, he pointed me to the FW510 still no cell locking or SIP ALG
Yea I have been in contact with there support.now...they said to me..those features should be on the unit...and they have escalated it to hq to see why they are not in the firmware..
Waiting for a reply back...Will post when they do

I don't believe what they say! Another excuse from support team. I believe all Zyxel 4G/5G routers will have cell locking disabled (removed off) before sold to customers. Maybe UK network told them (all router manufacturers to ensure there is no cell locking for some reasonable)

I agree with you. I am having issues with a seller who sold me an unlocked (ex three) NR5103 he too agrees that the firmware is locked down by the ISP but Zyxel pass the blame to them but it's no secret Zyxel make the firmware as per the ISP requests. But i have an unlocked device i should be able to do with it as i please. Shocking stuff

No not nigel..ahh so that's 2 employees...contact hq :)..
And yea..there equipment is not cheap...and for a router like the FWA510 that's not just a couple of pounds to buy...would of thought it would be feature rich

Have you purchased one also or wanting to....if thease features are implemented :-)

Well I already have a NR5103 still within its 30 days returns (also no cell lock or sip alg) but if it did have those features I'd be looking to buy. Its just so stupid

Well.so looks like not so much good news. so...the datasheet for the FWA510..which is listed on there product page...and also form the retailer where I purchased..among other places..states ALG support.
However.. I have had a reply back..saying message back from HQ....this product dose not support ALG...so the datasheet...and Info that retailers have is incorrect.
I've been told..that although the FWA510 is a replacment for the NR5101....it has no ALG support...or cell locking.
And if I want those features.. it would be the FWA710...which is an outdoor router...which is not an option for me.

So...its a shame..that a product like the FWA510...which is supposed to be a replacment for the NR5101...has less features.. for a higher price bracket....just dose not make any sense....it can't be a replacment...if you are going to strip the features away and charge alot more.
With the end day for PSTN in site...anyone thinking of this for there voip phones..its a no go.

Aw that's not so good news for you UnrealMachine35.🙁
Thanks for your update though.(y)

Could you not get a refund and just get an NR5103E, or are you happy enough with it?

Hi wee bear.lets just say..if I send this back and get another router..Mrs is gonna ask questions on the amount of the routers I have got thru lol.
So...its staying...but very disappointed as....I think I have clarified for everyone...the FWA510...is the exact same as the NR5103E apart from the Zyxel logo...so my advice.. certainly at present...do not see this as an upgrade from the NR5103E

that is bananas... straight up bonkers. I have been onto the engineers menu of the NR5103 and the menu items "sip" and "alg" are there. They are just not actived on this router. What are zyxel playing it. I don't know wether to send my NR5103 back or just hope and pray some as*hat at zyxel gets their finger out and adds it to firmware update
