Need help

I just cancelled AOL which was a 1 meg for 25 pounds per month no limits or congestion and switched too tiscali for 15 pounds 1 meg no limits, but huge congestion. I got speeds of like 100 kbps on average at peak hours and it was horrible. I need help to pick a new company. I would have took the Telewest 30 pounds 4/8 meg but they are out of bounds, possibly because it is cable? I have no idea. I would just like something under 35 pounds, no limit and 2 mb or above. With no congestion at peak hours when most people are online. Thanks.

Edit: I'd like too add, never get tiscali, its slow and disconnects randomly! But cancelling it was ok.

Edit2: It's for gaming and I would like a really smooth connection to work well with the Xbox 360 im going to get and play it live.

Please help!! (Tiscali will cut me off soon) :P

Edit3: I also have something on my line that means I cant get over 1mb, how do I sort this with BT?

If you look at the forums you can judge which the best is. There are ISPs that are good for one person yet terrible for another. I have heard good things about F2S, Zen, NDO, Firenet, Entityonline and pipex

But as I use cable I have never tried these just customers remarks on these ISPs. You need to research which matches your needs.

Yes, Telewest are cable, is there no sign of them coming to your area?

The Utility Warehouse do unlimited 2MB for £22.95 per month.

Plenty there I have used plusnet to much lag pipex a little lag was getting worse now going with be in feb sometime

I dunno if I would go over usage limits, I mainly play games and visit the same websites.. with the occasional big download. How much gb would be used in a month.. if it helps games I play are battlefield 2.. and a 2d shooter called soldat. But I am on alot of the time, whats a nice limit too have? I maybe download around 1/2gb per month.

I'll give telewest a ring and see if they will be coming to Renfrew any time soon.

Thanks for all help so far.

It does look like NTL have renfrew this is the list of proxies for that area.

renf-cache-1.server.ntli.net (Renfrew)
renf-cache-2.server.ntli.net [ren/renf]
renf-cache-3.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-4.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-5.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-6.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-7.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-8.server.ntli.net
renf-cache-9.server.ntli.net

So give NTL a call

I had a look at NTL and it seemed ok 2mb for 25 pounds and if you say good low ping aswell then I guess its perfect for me. Thanks!

Edit: And no butler im a hoops fan ;)

I would avoid Firenet at all costs - they support inbound migrations but not outbound, so you would be stuck with them, unless of course you fancy paying another £60 activation fee with a new provider if you want to change.

First off, check your card which the tiscali payments are coming from. They are very famous for carrying on charging even tho they say its cancelled.

You wont get a decent 2mb line with no caps for that price. I dont think you need 2MB for xbox live do you?

All I can suggest is the decent providers, like Zen, eclipse (Im with them...woo), and so on.

The best thing you can do, is try measuring your downloads for a month.
