long story short, christmas was a bit of a washout.. however lve been saving up amazon vouchers to put towards a PS4 to treat myself.

however lve recently realised l can free up some space with CEX and given the hopes they take the stuff l have to offer (a few components from my old system build and older laptop, all of which were priced well on their website)..

lve been told by my local CEX that l could likely net more with instore credit than actual money (which could mean the difference between £140 or up to £200 instore credit given my priceup of my items on their website), and that they currently have a range of PS4s in there for sale at the moment and that if lm sold one they will offer 2yrs warranty on the sale, lm wondering if its worth getting a second hand PS4 rather than saving for a brand new one mainly because second hand stores arent always the best place for such things.

either way it will be useful if anyone can offer me their opinions.

I've not used them, but a lot of people on HUKD seem to - and have no issues.

The voucher system does offer you more than the cash payments, a win for you and a win for them - if you look at their Buy/Sell prices.

If you happen to have any Intel compatible DDR2 4GB 800MHz ram though, could you sell it directly to me?? Been trying to get some for months for the daughters PC, bought twice and twice it was duff( one lot was for AMD only, one lot was for servers only).

actually just checked the ram, l think its DDR3 8GB matched pair.. l should have more somewhere but lm not certain.. tho it is possible if l find where my old "older" system is buried in stored l might also have a matched pair of DDR2 (8GB) tho it might be a lower clock speed.. cant say without digging it out and finding it.

that said, lve also got a couple of SSD's (128GB/60GB) doubt l'll have use for them seeing as lm using a 240GB SSD now.

I usually just put my old PC kit on eBay via 'Buy it Now' at a price that's just below the average. You'll probably get more than CEX, even after the postage and fees, but obviously the extra admin involved if you have a lot of bits and bobs to sell is a pain.

problem with my old PC is the power button was starting to act up, bothered me to no end, that said it maybe possible to strip down the mobo and pop it on ebay, everything else they will take for more than the lowest option of what ebay is selling (lve checked), still at least one of the items l was going to sell to CEX is going to a good home, reminded myself this morning to erase data to get it ready for posting..

if it's old pc strip it down and sell it as parts will make you more money but lots of work. I wouldn't go down the CEX route usually they are same price as a normal retail shop for the "used" items.

its a bit late now lol, but l did manage to reach my target and have now acquired a PS4, the downside is no games apart from my PS+ membership so l have some access to a little gaming content.

the other downside was CEX didnt overlook the fact my webcam on my old TJ68 laptop was acting up.. was something l noticed the last time l used it. so that took down my price by £100 for in store credit.. that said they bought the rest of my stuff for way more than expected, my tech gave me £160 to play with, what really surprised me was how much they bought some of my old PS2 games for.. l pretty much reached the £200 mark with PS2 4 games the rest were as expected between the pound and pence mark, meaning l only had to find £4 for the console, pretty much just need to hopefully do a few surveys so l can cash out £50 in amazon vouchers (tho lm close on a couple of other sites to cashing out £10).

one thing l do have still that l knew they wouldnt take is my old Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP motherboard, if anyones interested let me know, it supports Support for Intel® Core™ i7 processors/Intel® Core™ i5 processors/Intel® Core™ i3 processors/Intel® Pentium® processors/Intel® Celeron® processors in the LGA1150 package and can take up a max of 32GB ram.

If you are still after DDR2 give me a message
I have a couple of 1Gb sticks
you are welcome to
Andy

Hi Butler, thanks for the offer, but I have plenty of 1 & 2 GB sticks, the problem is that my daughters mobo only has two RAM slots. There is plenty of AMD DDR2 4GB around, but no Intel compatible - it all seems to be server RAM (neither work - I have tried).

l'll take another look around, l do still have my older system somewhere.. its just a matter of finding it.. if your still around my area you would be more than welcome to pick it up (tho we might have some issues with bailiffs today, we were unable to come to an agreement so they are sending ppl round we arent going to let in lol).

Make sure you keep the windows closed, any open window is an invite to enter (I used to work in debt recovery)
