Netgear DG834v3 - SNR and SRA settings

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can provide with the following information regarding DG834v3 modem/router:

- What's the equivalent of “adslctl” command available for DG834GT model on my DG834v3?

- If there's none – how can I change/amend SNR value and disable SRA using telnet or some “hidden” menu in web GUI? (I was searching for firmware mod, but there are none for DG834v3)

I'm currently running the latest version of firmware available from Netgear website.

Please advice.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Rafal

Hi,

I have been looking around for exactly the same thing, and I do not think its possible unless you have the specially modified SKY version.

Have been unable to find a reasonably priced ADSL modem where you can change the S/N. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Rgds.

there is a url that place in the address bar which opens a telnet port, my mates netgear does it!

I will see if I can the info.

Telnet access is not a problem. There's simply no command available to perform this change as it's possible on GT version. I've raised this issue with Netgear technical support and it was now escalated to Level 2, as Level 1 was unable to help.

The Sky router is a Netgear dg834gt, not the Netgear dg834/dg834g. The browser interface may look similar and the product code may be similar but the GT is built around a completely different chipset from a different manufacturer.

The dg834 and dg834g are built around the Texas Instrument AR7 (the dg834gv3 contains a TNETD7200ZDW to be exact).

The dg834gt uses a Broadcom chip (BCM6348 apparently)

The adslctl command is part of the broadcom firmware, although apparently the adslctl command in standard firmware in some models of routers doesn't provide the target margin tweak option and I seem to recall reading the target margin can only be adjusted by +/- 5db on certain speedtouch models. The dg834gt adslctl snr tweak seems to set a percentage to overide the target margin by so I think might allow a wider range. I think some popular Belkin models also use the broadcom chipset.

Apparently some routers have a coding gain setting that will achieve the same thing (globespan argon 432 chipset possibly).
