Netonmia - Lightning Fast Reaction! & How to get rid of Virgin?

So I've been trying to get my family over to fttp when available at their addresses and this morning plugged my mum's address into the OR checker, still not available and the Netonmia(YouFibre) one. To my surprise it said its now available which is good news. Anyone who has used the Netonmia(YouFibre) checker knows that annoyingly you have to enter your details each time you check.
To my surprise, less than a minute after entering my details and before I'd had a chance to look at all the packages then I had a call from Netonmia(YouFibre)! I couldn't really believe it but then again as none of these companies can commit to dates I guess they have to jump on any leads they can.
They can only supply broadband and phone (highest phone package inc calls is £12 extra a month). This all sounds good except my mum really relies on Virgin TV and I'm not sure how she will adapt to a different tv provider. Virgin won't do a tv package on its own, Sky seem to be pushing their stream service which is not clear to me how well that does for channel surfing between the live tv channels. If that is an option then maybe everything will cost about £60 a month, less than then ~£100 my my pays with Virgin at the moment but it will mean change. Not sure I have the energy to go through and fight for a deal with Virgin.

I think you don't need to check continually (I do, but, I'm desperate). They should email you when it's available after entering your details once. I say should, but I can't say for sure as I don't have it. I've gone from planned, to not available, to "good news" soon.

I can't wait to join YF. Im even thinking of bribing Jeremy with some champagne or something. I wish they would finish the build, but i'm not one of those how dare you not fibre up my house types. When it happens, it happens.

I'm not a TV watcher, don't even have a license, but even if I were, I'd probably opt for something like Sky's little internet TV box or if I didn't care for premium channels then i'd get freeview via satellite or something like that.

Congrats on getting Youfibre for your mum though. I'm sure you'll all be super happy with it.

I have emailed yf earlier this year and registered my families addresses and nothing was automatically sent. So I think there is a benefit in checking every couple of weeks or so. Just frustrating we aren't privy to their plans but things change so I get it and they don't want to set false expectations.

Had two calls from YF today, one from the regional connection manager and one from the original central sales guy. Given virgin won't split BB and TV then I need to do some more work on investigating Sky Stream to see if its suitable before pulling the trigger on YF. I might end up just using them as leverage to get a better VM deal although from my experience I haven't been able to do that for myself or my brother and the people who handled my calls left me wanting to leave even if they could have offered something cheaper.

I personally cancelled VM in Jan having proved Three 5G BB was good enough at £6 per month (now about £10 a month as a business). I dumped the landline and tv package as I wasn't using them. I bought a cheap Freesat box for when I do watch anything on traditional tv which works quite well. 6 months in my outgoings are £6 pm which is a bit of saving compared to £99 pm! Unfortunately I don't think that will be good enough for my mum as she likes Sky arts etc. hence the need to look at Sky Stream.

yes i think they had a bit of an issue with pre-orders. so much so that they stopped them. I have a pre-order, they setup the direct debit and everything. more than a year has gone by since then. It's good to know about checking. Thanks to bidb im constantly checking though. As well as the openreach checker.
re: sky yeah i can't believe how much some people are paying . My mum is also paying a lot for sky and yet all she watches is the news and channels that are freeview anyway. I've tried convincing her to get a freesat from sky card but she's stuck in her ways lol. Yeah sky stream would be my choice if i wanted to watch TV.
