Netservices

While I do not agree with the way netservices have handled our BB connection I am greatfull that they have re-connected us, all be it for a short time, this has allowed me to make sure my PC is up to date with all the security patches. I do think that netservices could have used the courts to recover the money that is owed to them rather than penalising the end user who had nothing to do with the situation.

I agree plus perhaps NS need to consider taking action via courts earlier before the need to refuse the EU their connection. Again though looking through forums of those who use NS not all refuse MAC codes plus some you will find are a little dearer than V21 which could be a reason they are not in arrears with NS. Please judge each ISP seperately taking into account what they supply and do for their customers.

I feel the negative publicity NetServices have received since cutting off the V21 end users has forced their hand. The other internet providers using NS must have been worried that it may impact on their businesses and have put pressure on NS to try and salvage some reputation from the debacle.

NS seem to have shot themselves in the foot though and looking at their share price performance over the last few months things don't look attractive for investors or new ISP customers. They have only themselves to blame for such blatant disregard for the end users.

At the end of the day NS are in business to make money but recently they have failed to make a profit, so it had to stop and try to recover debt. Its just the handling of the situation they got 100% wrong. Lets hope if ever the need arises they will learn from past experiencies and improve.

Not all NS using providers deserve to be tainted with the same stick, not least because most pay their bills and or may have a different implementation.

But for the sake of NetServices own corporate reputation they should simply refuse to take on any clients who will not provide MAC codes to their customers as standard.

It is right that NetServices should pursue the money they are owed contractually by V21 and/or possibly Biscit but not they they should attempt to force ex v21 customers to join an ISP they don't want to join or face a loss of broadband service for days or weeks and suffer additional reconnection costs.

Surely the example of Ratners shows how loss of reputation is more important for businesses than simply making the most money in the short term.

I have moved these posts here as they are now all about NS.
