Just noticed that when I select manual for network scan on my Samsung tablet it shows an unfamiliar number, never seen anything show up before thats not one of the usual networks.

Any idea what it could be?

I tried connecting to it but it wasn't having it.

Just curious.

Oh that's interesting Mr Choo, thank you for that.
Another school day here for me. (y):giggle:

The list is in the cellmapper drop down selection. I recognised the numbers but had to look to see what it was.

I never even thought to look in cellmapper.

23432 is the EE ESN (Emergency services network). Interestingly it shows as EE for me but in previous devices it was 23432 as you see. It has been enabled in my area for years now..

Any idea why virgin shows up when I do a search as I thought they don't run their own network?

Its this same 23432. It shows up as Virgin on some older networks as they used to have their own network code a good few years back as that's how the MVNO was working at the time. Their network code was later awarded to the ESN though as they didn't use/need it anymore.

I was just reading through all the assigned network codes and it seems a lot of MVNOs have their own network code even though they have no need for it. Networks such as Sky, Lycamobile, iD and Vectone all have their own network codes.
