Hello,

In my city, Carlise, there is 2 (that I know of) brand new 5G masts that have been installed, I would estimate one has been in place for around 9 months and one around 4 months. Both appear not to be enabled and are sitting there.

I have tried to ask Three via their social media for an "estimated date" but they are unable to help.

Is there anyone with some insider info or anyone who knows the usual time it takes for a new mast to be activated?

Thanks

Varies a bit, depends on which backhaul they are going with (CityFibre, Virgin Media, other AltNet etc) and the lead times of that provider, access to the site, contractor availability, also sometimes there is difficulty in getting power to the site. 9 Months is probably getting close, but I usually say about 12 months for good measure. The network map can take a good month or so also, might find it you can already use 5G before the map has updated.

Fantastic that you're getting them as north as Carlisle though! :)

Hi,

The second mast was installed with a fraudulent ICNIRP document on the planning application. The entity used was dissolved in 2015 and not related to Three or even Telcoms. Discussions are ongoing between the Government departments but possible that mast could be removed.

Stupid by the phone company as it has enabled NIMBY’s to cause havoc. There are some videos of NIMBY’s threatening legal action against their councils.

5G only work well if many masts are placed in close proximity, I don’t think you will notice much difference but I am learning myself on the tech side.

Let me know if you want any other info.

Thanks
