After waiting 6months for the tower to turn on someone finally came and flipped the switch

Here are my results for 5G broadband without an antenna on my windowsill. Router is a CPE pro

Happy days voltized. Just look at that ping.🥳

Yea pretty good thinking of getting an external antenna and putting it on the side the tower actually is, ping is consistently 8-9 and seen 7ms but on my phone with the sim in it gets 12+. These results are obviously wired ethernet

Oh I wouldn't bother with an external with these results. 😊

I am planning on switching on using this full time after my Virgin Media contract ends (August) in the time between my new internet pre order from YouFibre (Netomnia) is installed, been a few months so gonna have this 5G router in use for a while. I use remote desktop connections quite a lot and gaming in household and noticed stuttering with certain games and I noticed some in RDP, would an external antenna help with any of these uses at all? Apart from gaming and specific use cases with a real-time connection needed it’s perfect for browsing etc, but obviously wireless can’t beat cable in terms of gaming etc

I wouldn't think an entenna would actually make any difference at all connectivity wise voltized.

You may find your speeds actually reduce due to cable loss and MIMO reduction, hard to predict these things though unfortunately.

I will let the experts here chip in. 😁

Yeah you are pretty much spot on (not that I'm an expert).
Don't bother with external antenna.

rather obvious it's 3 lol, no other operator could go that fast
*cough* In my experience it is the reverse! Just had another power cut and on the phone for 40mins to the lovely people working with Three Tech support to try and get back a 4G connection on 3UK.

Over a 106 times faster than my connection!! And this result is good compared to normal as the mast had boot everyone off it!

mainly because 1) that's 4G, not 5G and 2) You seem to live in a not-so-great 3 area... If you dislike it so much.... leave. And if it's your 'only option' as you've said in the past, just live with it! It's better than what others have to offer, clearly.

Edit:::: when I say clearly 3 5G, it's obvious if you look at overall tests you see on this forum, and Ookla themselves crowning 3 as 5G speed king. I rarely see 5G under 300mbps, average about 600, all the way up to gigabit and more. O2's 5G is hot sh!t, barely delivering 100mbps in most areas, Vodafone 250ish meg from my (admittedly breif) testing and EE's 5G is... something.

Congrats, that's a pretty awesome result right there. I've seen similar pings lately too, it's pretty amazing as it's on-par with cable at 10ms or less. I too don't think you're going to get much more with an external. You might though. Without knowing your cell and your location and where you have it now it's hard to say. But if it were me, i'd leave it there at that speed and be pretty happy with it. I usually see around 700/60 but i've occasionally seen 900/100.

Been waiting 6 months for a phase 8 to be turned on near me. I noticed there were more roadworks going on next to the mast in question and it looked like the mast was being fed with something. It was SP energy networks vans so I reckon the mast must be almost ready to go live.

Similar here, phase 8 appeared last October. Power to the cabinets for a good few months now, I can hear the hum when I walk past. Last works was to connect to a backhaul virgin media cabinet in March. Ah, hopefully one day it'll splutter into life.

Same here too. Few have been up a while, powered up, fibres up, microwaved up and still nothing.

Could be a mass switch on?

there's a phase 7 pole near the shell garage on chellow heights (Bradford) that's been active a while now... I drove past the other day and noticed it wasnt broadcasting at all and there was a panel missing + other panels left with cables not plugged in just hanging loose from the pole. Wonder what they are doing to it as without that pole, there's barely any service from EE or 3 (very weak 4G+ from another mast)

You don't need all these

Anyone want to buy some cheap cables? :devilish:
I'll even chuck in a free panel too.

We have a pole like that in Glasgow. Hard to say whether it’s turned on or not. Even when I was with EE I didn’t feel like I was getting any service from it. It had missing panels where the Three 5G antennas normally would be.

I’m sure I can hear the cabinets next to it turned on though.

Been like that for almost 2 years.

mine was actually broadcasting for a year though before ending up like this quite recently... very weird.
