New line and FTTC cabinets

We are just planning to move to a new house and find the broadband speed is not very good there.

Having done some research I found that that there is a couple of cabinets which are quite close to the new property, but the one which serves the neighbour is a little way away. There is no line in the current house, so we will be ordering a new line.

My question is that if we ordered a new line, is it possible that it would be routed from the nearer cabinet?

Also there was a suggestion that I could get FTTP in one of the checkers, but having called a couple of FTTP providers they say that this is not an option.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

This really depends more on how the underlying infrastructure is connected up in your area. Sometimes you may find yourself being connected to a more distant cabinet simply because there's no physical way to reach the nearest one with the current setup. You could try asking Openreach's Twitter support team: https://twitter.com/OpenreachGB .

Are you able to share any rough details of the area, such as postcode and village/street name?

You can get FTTC there and from the Cab its roughly 550 metres so should get good speeds, even with ADSL2+ I would have thought speeds of around 18meg
