New Three 5G Hub (NR5103E)

Is it worth getting the NR5103EV2 if I have the 5103E?

Seller said it's unlocked although it's 3 branded.
I wouldn't bother benparker, it's actually a slight downgrade with slower ethernet speeds, and 2 antenna sockets rather than 4.

I doubt you would see any change in your speeds compared to the V1 router.

Up to you though. 🤷‍♂️ 😁

Interesting - are you using it in IP passthrough mode or connected to WiFi directly?
I was using a 3 sim on the NR5103E and kept getting daily disconnects whilst in passthrough mode, so now i have my Asus router in DMZ with a static IP and although i believe i may be double natting my connection has been rock solid, i have switched off everything on the Zyxel modem [DHCP/WIFI/FIREWALL] and the Asus is doing all the work.
I followed this video to the letter:

I don't use IP Passthrough as I find the WIFI6 on this router very strong and reliable, So have up to 19 pieces of equipment, roughly two thirds on Ethernet and rest on Wifi.

I see you removed the bit about double natting - wouldn't it still happen in this configuration unless a static route was set up on the Zyxel?

I am not very tech savvy, i assumed if i turned off the DHCP server on the Zyxel this would stop the double nat, if it is double natting i have not noticed any problems with speed etc, but have lost all the disconnects.

Not better WiFi signals or better connection from mast? Not fussed about ethernet.

No idea how it's WiFi performs benparker, but the WiFi on the V1 is the strongest I've had on any router to date. 👍

Internet came to a grinding halt yesterday evening whilst watching Eric on Netflix... Three is definitely making changes. I eventually realised that my router had locked onto a new n1 band from my mast which was very poor strength and yielded less than 1mpbs. To date the mast has only been transmitting on n78 for 5G. Normally I lock to Band B28 and n78, but had left the full 5G band list ticked. Problem resolved by going back to auto band selection for now, which seems to select n78 again.
So I have just found out mine was connecting to b1 so I done a speed test on b1

I then selected n78 and the difference is unbelievable. n78 has a much better speed, Also it was saying I have poor signal strength on b1 but excellent on n78 so why is the router trying to select the poorest selection

I have been using the NR
I tested Three today from the upstairs window and on internal antenna obtained 631 and 573 mbps d/l. Signal 20

My husband is getting antenna 4x4 for the v1 of the model and hopes to improve on this. Will report back!

Three has said that 597 mbps is the maximum on the network. Our u/l is lower than the maximum 39 rather than 50.

That's definitely not true, I have hit over 800mbps in the early hours, for me it's more like 250-450 in more peak times but definitely seen 500-800 in less busy times, luckily I now get full bars on 5G after a lot of OCD router positioning lmao.

I have the V2 though.

Yes n78 has hugely better bandwidth. b1 is a 4G band, so perhaps your router was using it as an anchor point for NSA? I was referring to a new 5G band n1.. but your question still remains why did my router lock onto a very poor signal 5G band over the better "fair" n78 band... perhaps Three were commissioning the new n1 band and things needed to settle.

Did you ever have the v1? If so how does the V2 compare?

I have a 5103EV1 and finding it on offer I also got a 5103ev2, connected to a pair of LowcostMobile RAD5G-ULTRA yagi antennas and in my condition, the v2 works better than the v1.
I don't use wifi, only data connection.
Better in what way exactly?

I'm more than happy with my V2. £105 on CEX.

Edit! Forget that, I took it back.

I got it all working with about 10 devices, including smart tvs and wifi cameras but every time I rebooted it one of my smart tvs and both security cameras, a windows laptop... would go offline. I tried everything in settings, upnp, Ipv6 on or off, locked 4G and 5G bands, locked wifi channels, auto wifi channels did a factory reset to latest firmware but the issues remain. I have gone back to my old ZTE 3 router and that works perfectly with faster download speeds.

How do i specifically lock onto a certain signal ID.

You can't lock to specific cells unfortunately ubdai66, but to select specific bands, first log into the UI..........

Top right hamburger menu / network setting / broadband / cellular band tab / switch off auto band selection / select the bands you wish to use, then click on apply.

Hope that helps. :)

B** are 4G bands.
n** are 5G bands.
