I wonder if this is an IPv6 issue? That might explain why it's not seen using VPN. I have problems connecting with NR5103Ev2 and one or two local devices on my LAN when IPv6 is enabled so I disabled it.

I have noticed issues only this last week or so. I have had slow-loading, or non-loading web pages, which I have sorted by disabling IPv6 (tip on another forum) but I have noticed stuttering on certain apps. I recently subscribed to Paramount + and this is bad for stuttering. The sound is not affected, but the picture looks like it is trying to catch up, just by a few frames. BBC iPlayer does not suffer and neither does Netflix (or not that I’ve noticed) but Plex does! It is installed on a NAS with my own content on, and this has never done this in the 6 years that I have had it, but lately, it does the same picture stutter as on Paramount+. I am going to check Disney+ and Prime to see how they go, but it is certainly something that is new to me.

Which app do I use to see which 5g band is closest so I can lock to it?
Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but possibly cellmapper.net will tell you what you need.

It seems there's yet another NR5103E in the works folks. (V3)

I wonder why so soon after V2.

Still only 2 external antenna sockets on a 4x4 MIMO router though... :-(

would you download the firmware from Zyxel support

I've an un locked Three NR5103E using an EE sim. Without the Three sion the firmware update does not work so thinking of downloading as the router is locking once per day needing a power cycle to get the connection back to 4G/5G?
There is no NR5103E firmware to download from your link louisP, it specifically says it's NOT for the NR5103E.

I got naff all response here so let me try in this thread. :-)

I have a shiny 5g O2 mast in direct line of sight that does a cozy 200-300 Mbps to my phone (cell mapper/ Network Cell info lite etc...... and think the way to go is a 5G mobile broadband modem/router. I've seen some discussion around using unlocked Three / Xyxel devices and like the ability to tweak certainly the older revision of the Zyxel nr5103e.
Is there anything out hardware wise that is better than this that is around the same price as say buying a proper refurb/return from ebay (not damaged or locked).... Am I right or does anyone have any better suggestions ?
2nd question is where could i get a sim that doesn't break the bank that is unlimited %g and wont be pulled up for using in a modem.

I can share my experience. Until today I tried two 5g routers, the Zyxel NR5103E (v1) and the ZTE MC888. I found the Zyxel to be much more stable, and the ZTE lost completely 5g connection which led me to getting rid of it and go back to the Zyxel.
The only issue with the Zyxel was connection issues with 2.4ghz devices (robot cleaners, security cameras...) which was resolved after contacting the Three tech support, but apart from that I'm really happy with it.
I have a Three unlimited SIM plan, and I easily get 600mbps+ download even in busy times.
AFAIK all Three branded Zyxel NR5103E are unlocked, so you can get one from CEX with 24 months warranty for 100£, no need to pay any extra for the so-called "unlocked ones". I don't see any issues using one with an O2 sim, it might be a matter of configuring the right APN and nothing else.
I hope this helps!

I'm sure others will advise on the best place to find a cheap unlimited SIM, but I've just used mobiles.co.uk to buy a 300gb IDMobile SIM for £7/month AFTER CashBack (24mnth contract). It's £14/month BEFORE CashBack.

Three do an unlimted data only sim for £6.
I think that offer from Three has long gone now pras1011.:(
That's the business deal I have, but I've had it a while now.
I'm happy to be proven wrong though. :giggle:
