New Three 5G Hub (NR5103E)

Damn, just received the ZTE today as part of a new package. Is it worth sending back the ZTE for this new one? Any benefits?
we shall see, its brand new today by the looks of it

Doubt it'll perform any better than the others, but we'll await your thoughts in anticipation Bubbles. 😊

A nice upgrade is the 2.5Gb ethernets, if you can actually get anything fast enough of course to go above the usual 1 Gb sockets on most routers.

Yeah I ain't got owt that supports 2.5gbit so probably not lol.

Good to know. I've got my ZTE in Bridge Mode into my Eero system and it's giving me 464/64 vs our current Virgin Media 200 down, so I'm very happy at the moment for what is a fraction of the monthly cost.

Yes I was pleasantly surprised. Only been connect a few hours, so will see what happens over the next few days. Wondering if antennas would boost that even more, as on our balcony my iphone hits 586/75.
From what I've seen over the years they give more grief and dissapointment to a lot of users.

I myself many moons ago wanted to try the external antenna route but it made things worse.

If you're happy with what you have, then don't fix what isn't broken lol. 😊

If you insist on giving it a go, make sure you go the Amazon route so it's easily returned if it doesn't benefit you any.

Anyway, have fun tinkering. (y)

I've taken the plunge and ordered one on a 1 month contract. I'll cancel at the end of the month n see if I can keep it. Not too fussed if I cant, arent gonna complain about a month of 5G broadband for £24 lol
I ordered the previous router nearly 2 months ago cancelled it on day 1 and used it for the 30 days have had the Three Business SIM in it since haven't been asked for it back after the original payment

How did you go about cancelling it? I think a router upgrade is in order for me but i'm surprised they didn't ask for it back when you cancelled

Since this is the same as the 5GEE hub that's been supplied for some time (or the NR5103E direct from Zyxel) there may be more experience with those...

Does anyone (Three or EE or NR5103E) have a definitive answer about the external antenna ports -- are they all 5G only (4x4 MIMO), or are 2 5G and 2 4G (2x2 MIMO), or are they all 5G/4G (4x4 MIMO)?

The NR5103E data sheet/manual is unclear about this (it mentions 5G but doesn't say whether they also support 4G), and there are also conflicting reports from different people about how well external antennae work...

See massive thread here for the 5GEE version...

When I originally ordered I got conflicting information about the fact that I could keep the router

When I called to cancel on day one I asked if I could put in my 30 day cancellation notice I got a final bill for £24 a month later and haven't been asked for the router back since

On the back of 3 releasing the new routers i rang this morning to complain regarding the issues i have had with the ZTE router.

They will not replace for the new Zyxel no matter what you do. I have a background in the telecomms sector and know the process inside and out and i must admit they pushed me to my limit but after escalating to the complaints manager i finally managed to get a resolution

They have no Zyxel in stock as replacements all stock is reserved for new customers only, my resolution was that they waived the early termination fee so i am now waiting for a jiffy bag to send the ZTE back and then to place an order for the new Zyxel hub.

I feel i have lost brain cells this morning and i didn't have many to start with

Just an update rather than wait for a jiffy bag i have placed a new order and should be receiving the Zyxel in the morning (providing they do not send another ZTE)
