I'm hitting a brick wall with Voda. Grateful for guidance.
Recently installed Broadband Essential for elderly in-laws, migrating ADSL and PSTN (OR's infrastructure) to Voda , provided on same ADSL infra but old PSTN number on the copper pair now migrated to Voda's built in Digital Vopice (Voip), i.e. voice connection is now via the router's Tel1 POTS socket, not the old BT/OR master socket (this still carries the Voda ADSL of course).
I now want to port that same original number from Voda to A&A but retain the Voda broadband
Voda say they can't do this - say the Voip number is tied to their B/b and porting the Voip will cancel the broadband.
Now, I know this happens with regular PSTN + ADSL when porting the PSTN number, but I understood that this is because OpenReach (OR) owned the PSTN analogue number.
My question is once the original PSTN analogue number has been migrated to another provider's VOIP, why is that PSTN number still intrinsically tied to the broadband infrastructure? Doen's make sense.
Voda, of course, say the Voip and B/b are tied together contractually (there is a clause in standard T&Cs which says this) but Voda deny that they are now the number owner, and are blaming OpenReach.
So, my question is whether Voda, as the current CP, can prevent the number portability (i.e. Ofcom GC-B3 (Number Portability)).
I'm trying to understand whether OR retains original number ownership, even though it's been converted to a Voip from another CP.
Grateful for your wise counsel.
