NGA & Non-NGA network

Dear All, Please share your view & understanding on NGA & Non-NGA networks. From openreach perspective, FTTP is NGA networks, that connects to OCR frames in Exchange. Ethernet is Non-NGA that connects to ODFs. any idea why is that arrangement?

Next Generation Access (NGA) is a fairly general term that tends to mean different things to different organisations, regulators and companies. In the UK and EU it's widely associated with fixed line networks that can deliver speeds over 24 or 30Mbps, whether that be via FTTC, FTTP, DOCSIS or whatever. Mind you Openreach does have their own interpretation.
