Nightmare transfer from Plusnet

I recently transferred from Plusnet to Origin but nothing on Origin website about transfer date. After numerous failed calls to them they told me there was a cease order on my line and they could do nothing about that, I'd have to contact Plusnet (who are utterly impossible to contact, one of the reasons I decided to move). Eventually I got through to Plusnet who blamed Sky! I used to be a Sky customer before moving to Plusnet.
This farce went on for over 3 weeks, each blaming the other. During that time I was forced to pay Plusnet's extortionate 'no contract' price (second reason I'd decided to move).

Something like this can occur if you attempt to switch between several different ISPs on different network platforms within a fairly short space of time (given that 3 ISPs are involved then I'd guess it's a window of around 6-8 weeks - plus any unexpected engineer related delays on top), which may create some problems.

On the other hand if you've been with Plusnet for awhile (?) then I've no idea why Sky would suddenly place a cancel on the line some months later, which is very unusual. Bit more info. might help.

Sometimes it is just easier to bite the bullet and get a new line (and new phone number), from a new provider. This is what I did when VISPA screwed my line up (having handing it to Talk Talk apparently).

I talked to Martin (above), and he got me a new line and VDSL installed in around 10 days; significantly cheaper and a LOT faster than BT were quoting.

My only real issue now is that the last owner of the new phone number was a sucker for scam callers, and they keep trying to call him, despite my telling them he has been dead for five years !!

@Captain Cretin. Just buy the BT8600 it has advanced call blocking so all calls that come through are annnounced, you then have a selection of things you can do if they do announce who they are. Press 1 to accept the call press 2 to send to answermachine or 3 to block them. Bye bye cold callers used to get plenty now I sometimes see when i pick up handset how many didn't get through which I like since I get my peace.

Nice idea, but too many Chinese relatives calling; none of whom speak English (other than the word "Hello"), and all international calls only show as "International Call" anyway.

We have Call blocking, Silent Ring and "Engaged tone" response on our current phone system, but the NHS*, Police* etc, all block CLI, so we had to disable it and go back to using the phone systems "Blacklist" system.

*The NHS system has the option to allow CLI, but most staff cant be bothered, even though my notes state all anonymous calls are blocked; the Police apparently have no such choice.
