NO connection to AOL- Help

I have changed from BT to AOL for my landline. BT line went dead on Thursday. AOL insist the line is live with them but the phone/internet does not work. I have touched nothing
I have rung several times (on expensive mobile) and getting nowhere. Any ideas of where I go from here as they insist it’s fine.
Thanks

Update
They have decided there is a fault on the line. Funny that, the fault only appeared the second BT became AOL.
It will be fixed in the next 2 days and I actually have a fault Ref number, so I am getting somewhere.
I was actually posting for a friend. I am on BT & Aquiss (broadband) and have never had a problem in 3 years.

Problems like that do happen and it's usually an issue with the migration process between different platforms, often when one side or the other neglects to do something. According to the Office of the Telecoms Adjudicator (OTA) they are not rare but they're also far less common than they use to be, so it looks like you were just unlucky.

The ISP itself often only has a limited ability to check for faults because BT still manages that side of the "business" (i.e. fixing problems), even on fully unbundled lines. At least it's fixed now.

Not exactly "fixed" just yet. I (my friend) waits with anticipation. AOL admitted that the line is not live.
I'll stick to Aquiss and BT.
:o

I hope my experience is going to be better on the 11th, when my landline goes from BT to AOL.

Mark, do you know what actually happens when the line transfers? As I am already on AOL LLU what changes please.

Depends on the platform and the direction of migration. Shared LLU migrations are less likely to suffer problems but Fully LLU platforms are a different story, they've always had problems due to physical kit differences and so forth. Each area could be on a different platform so you never know for sure. Most of these go off without any problems.

I'm not intimately familiar with the exact internal process.

Thanks for your comments Mark.

I'll post back with details of my experience. I've got internet on my mobile if it all goes pair-shaped

Well its the 11th July.

I got home this evening and the telephony was fine but internet wasn't.

I gave AOL a call and after 5mins or so this was sorted.

Line synching at 3307 Kbps (was around 3772 Kbps yesterday). Not sure if that will change for the better.

Anyway all ok at the moment :)

Good to hear and how much are you paying for that AOL Broadband bundle?

Good morning Mark,

12mths at £17.99 and then 6mths at £19.99

Unlimited BB at the fastest possible speed on my line. Although BT checker always said .5mb, I was able to get 3.2mb on the BT line with AOL.
Free calls at all times to 01/02/0870 and 0845 numbers.
Free caller display
Free voicemail

They also gave me 1mth free.

Only thing that puzzles me is, instead of the speed being quicker than when I had the BT line, it is now 10% slower. I've heard people say it takes a while for the line to settle but not sure about this and that it'll speed up.

AOL are owned by Talk Talk.

When I had the American owners version it was an excellent service. As soon as the cowboys got it they ran it down. I lost all my e-mails from AOL and I couldn't use the AOL Talk Talk crapware properly as I didn't have the latest XP SP 2 or 3 or whatever it was.

A thoroughly dishonest crowd.
