Nod32...

With the free upgrade to NOD32 v.3

Has anyone tried out the ESET Smart Security?

Wondering if it's worth the 'limited time' discount upgrade offer...

Yes beta tested it it is very good I like it.. Also already upgraded my NOD32 to it.

Yes free upgrade to V3 but if you want to uipgrade to NOD32 and firewall then they charge but it is only a small fee depending on how long you have left to run on your currant NOD32 licence.

Installed mine yesterday, though I wouldn't have realised v3 was out had it not been for v2.7 failing to start properly at bootup. Think it's time for an annual WinXP reinstall :) . I'm not keen on the new interface though, it doesn't give you enough information about all the options and the older pop-up window felt a little more intuitive.

Im currently running NOD with a 'full' version of ZA Pro Firewall/AntiSpy..

Not adverse to paying for the NOD Smart Security, would it work as well as my current set up? Protection..cpu loading etc etc...

Just opinions that's all....

EDIT:..Mark..no, if not for the email I woulda been none the wizer but, I do like the interface...and the little 'lime' in the system tray lol

All the old stuff is still there, you just have to go and look for it. Under Setup and "enter entire advanced setup tree".

Pretty much ESET NOD32 Antivirus or Smart Security will work on any setup. It's requirements are low.

I can see the reason for the interface change. The main complaints I heard were from the general numpties that used the standards like macafee and norton. NOD was too hard to use. Personally I found that hard to believe.

From what I see (and I have been on the Smart Security since the first beta) it's all in aid of making it so that the idiots install it then do nothing.

For anyone that's interested I still have a reseller account for ESET so PM me for any info re upgrades or renewals, new licenses etc.

I have installed NOD32 in my computer and so far it worked very well, but I'm not sure if I should upgrade. I prefer to wait a little more since I've experienced good working software and when I got the full versions of them, they aren't as good as before.
