Nokia 6233

Any idea on a good place to get a cheap (and not off the back of a lorry) nokia 6233?

Has to be sim free, Im on a very good contract.

Best I can do is £245.95 delivered. Ive tried ebay, only one for sale!

Im deciding to go back to nokia, as motorola seem to be crap for reliability. Having tried the Pebl, and V3X Im not impressed, every single one I seem to have come across has some sort of technical niggle.

Dont think I will deviate from the 6xxx range again, they are extremely reliable. Would also like to hear from anyone who uses/used one.

£250 ... for a mobile phone...

I have a Nokia on PAYG that cost me £22 ish delivered ( new ) with £25 of credit included...I thought that was expensive..

Very basic and simple...a bit like me I guess.. ;)

Good luck with your search..

Oh dont worry, I wont be paying that much. I still have the V3X that was free with my contract. I can sell that for over £150, and I use my phone for all sorts, including email.

1101 - the one that's also a torch?

I got one of them recently £2.50 after I sold the airtime on to a family member. I usually go for something slightly more expensive when I need to top-up, but I wanted one that was easy to unlock. And most of my mates have already moved onto my network now anyway ;)

That is the one Mel, easy to unlock, has a torch, cost £22.49 with a £20 airtime card and £5 credit on the phone and that included next day delivery at no extra cost.

Better shut up about it or Old Dude will be getting one, now that we have hi-jacked his thread...sorry.;)

the Nokia 1101 is FREE on easymobile at the moment, well when i say free its almost free, you buy it for £30 and they give you £30 of airtime credit.

I've just got one (Nokia 1101) to replace my Philips Savvy with the same Virgin (?) deal as Inactive - now in the process of bothering Mel on how to unlock it ... :hrmph:

Much easier than that Bob, just use the original link that is on here, a few pages back, but clear any Virgin cookies first.

The offer page still works even tho it is out of date.

I ordered mine at 4.00 PM on Sunday, it arrived at 4.00 pm on the Monday !!!...24 hour service on a Sunday.

I looked at the EasyPhone Web Site but their tarrifs have a service charge if you don't top up on a regular basis, and it is linked to O2, so crappy signal coverage.:hrmph:

Apologies to Old Dude, looks like his thread is now fully Hi- Jacked..

Sorry.

Yes, sorry about that Old Dude - did have a look for your phone but only turned up similar prices ...

I cant find any less than that, unless I buy from overseas.

How likely is it Im going to get shafted by customs grabbing it?

The seller said its unlikely due to it being a personal shipment.

Any ideas?

And if got by customs, how much would I get stiffed for? Heres the item (and cost) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230001275954&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:UK:1

While Im at it (not asking much am I), does anyone have a decent link/email to give ebay ideas? I dont think people should be allowed to give non VAT prices, but freely advertise a VAT number if need be.

The normal way of reporting things is awful.

@Old Dude, I would avoid like the plague, apart from the Customs & Excise possible charges... the seller hasn't got a rosy feedback, see what recent buyers have said.

Too much money to risk in my opinion.

Oh and you may well get a 110volt USA charger ???

Ive got many nokia adaptors, one of which is a counterpart of the one needed.

There is only 2 negative comments, the rest is withdrawn or neutral due to being unverified by paypal (which is difficult to do, and impossible outside the US or UK).

All depends on if it would get charged by customs or not. I cant find anywhere that would tell me the cost, useless government websites.

This one would stop me in my tracks;

Money order was cashed, has not shipped item after 3 weeks, need my money back

No way Jose !!! ...also the feedback looks very iffy to me, lots of withdrwan negatives...it's your money, but I don't want to see you on Watchdog.. ;)

eBay and Paypal are not really interested in feedback, they are effective monopolies.

Found this, any help?

Thanks, that link was.

Ive worked out that if I get stung by it all, it will be the same as if I paid for it here anyways.

You cant withdraw feedback unless you have a good reason, and the comments still show. Ive been looking through, and theres been many many sales, many of which are much more expensive (and have happy punters).

Just bought it, I know paypal and ebay (one and the same) dont give a toss, but I'll take the chance.

Havent been caught out yet, but theres always a first time!

Time will tell.

Got the phone. That muppet on ebay refunded me, said my paypal account wasnt verified. Dispite having it for over 3 years and the big words 'UK verified' by it obviously meant nothing.

So I got it from the site I originally saw, which arrived next day, extremly fast.

Its a wonderful phone, why oh why did I ever go away from nokia?

An utter dream to use and many features that I will use.

Can heartily recommend the 6233!

Oh that is brilliant news Old Dude, I am not sure why " that muppet " lists stuff on UK and other sites, if he / she doesn't accept verified accounts.

Well at least no import worries.

I agree with you about Nokia's being user friendly, I had a Siemans, it was crap to use.

Why can they not all use a standard ( ish ) format?

Anyway...glad you are sorted.

Thankye for the kind comments!

Oh, and Nokia patented their menu system I beleive, thats partly why they are not all the same.
