Nokia N95

Does anyone know of a reliable review site? Im so tired of all the sites with fanboys of various phone makes arguing.

And a long shot, but does anyone know if tom tom can be used on the N95? I know that they have got it working, but it has to be with an external GPS unit, as they havent got it working with the inbuilt one yet.

I would very much like to hear from someone that has one too, as I am interested in getting one in a month or 2. I have heard varying things about the N series phones.

I don't have one, but a friend recently bought one, and he loves it (actually, I wish I could shut him up about it)

He says the call quality is excellent and the MP3 playback is also good.

I have had a play with it myself and the build quality seems to be good, although I would be a bit paranoid about scratching the (excellent) screen.

TBH, if I wasn't tied to a contract already I would be looking at getting one of them myself.

Thanks Akbray. Did you happen to notice how responsive it was? The menu system and stuff?

Slight lag, but not enough to bother me.

Thanks both. I found that first review very helpful.

I still cant find too much out about the GPS device onboard. This is a major point for me, as half the reason for getting it is to get rid of my PDA with GPS on it.

Battery life seems to be a problem. Hopefully a charge every night will be fine...

Hello,
I used these 2 sites, when i recently sorted a new contract.i have couple more but no review for your fone..

Here.. Ignore the public reviews..the main one is good.

And here...seems quite un-biased

:)

Thanks all. Ive been reading comments about the N95, and read every single review posted on here (as well as a few others)!

The GPS, which is my main reason for getting it, seems rather touchy and I cant get tom tom on it for certain (I contacted tom tom, and they are useless). Well I can, but Id have to use a bluetooth receiver, which is kind of pointless.

What I have dug up however, is this: http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4366035

Looks much better, and hopefully has a better GPS chip in it. Hopefully a sirf 2, or even 3.

Currently trying to find out. If anyone can tell me, Id be appriciative!

And also a decent release date. Cant find one of those either.

Saw that, not suprised though.

Fortunatly, wouldnt affect me, as I probably wouldnt use it anyways. Of course, I dont think Im getting the N95 now, the 6110 navigator looks a much better phone for me.

I just really hope its got a better GPS receiver, cant find the info anywhere.

I think the 6110 is due out some time in Q2 2007 - so sometime between now and the end of June

I dont know if anyone is interested, but the first 6110's have appeared on ebay. Its only from one seller, but it looks genuine (has sold phones previously with good feedback).

Too expensive for me, but I assume it will be officially released soon, if its following the trend.

Still dont know what chipset it uses, but it seems very likely its the same as the N95, which I later found out to be a sirf 2 LP (low power). Not overly impressive, but maybe the 6110 will have the bugs worked out...

Finally got a 6110 navigator. Its a rather heavy phone, and its not going to win any awards for looks.

The intial lock on took a while, 4 mins+ but when I restarted it, it locked on in under a minute, maybe less than 30 seconds.

Kept strong signal under heavy tree cover, and the voice is very very loud and clear.

It did have my home address slightly wrong, so Im not impressed with that. Need to look into that more as I just did it by postcode.

Ideally, Id like to have tomtom on there, but they still dont have a patch/version which will work with internal GPS recievers on the S60 operating system.

Need to use the satnav more, and Im thinking the route 66 addresses are a bit flaky, but otherwise the hardware is spot on.

I dont know if anyones remotely interested in that, but as 6110 reviews are like gold dust, I thought I may as well.
