Non BT line ISP?

Hello all,
I am on the lookout for an ISP that doesnt require a BT line. My mum uses Onetel for voice and wants broadband, but has tried Eclipse and Adsl4less and they cant provide a service until she has a BT line.
Looking at the customer reviews, Onetel broadband are not the right option for a non techie mum, but which ISP would be the best, she is not bothered about limits or speed?
Many Thanks
Ian

Your mum may pay for her line rental and/or calls through another provider eg OneTel but the line is still owned by BT. The vast majority if not all ISPs should be able to provide an ADSL service to her.

Onetel just recently taken over by talk talk (carphone warehouse) you could give them a try, amongst many others.

my friend is in a similar boat, he doesn't pay BT for line rental, and he was bothered because most ISP's if not all state you require a BT line. I told him I was fairly sure that it doesn't matter as the line was installed by BT. it would be pathetic to NEED to pay BT for your rental in order to get DSL. reason he left was to get cheaper rental.

but having said that, if it is the case you DO need to pay BT in order to get DSL, then that stinks. BT need a kick up the arse. it's great if you live in an area where there is a good chance of LLU, but for lots of people BT has a strangle hold and we can only have what they give us, when others can get speeds of 8mbit and faster.

unless you know you have a non bt line any isp can provide adsl. i use the post office home phone system and pay line rental to them as well. my broadband is provided by eclipse with no problems because the line is still bt the call providers just rent thre line from bt if there is a fault it is still bt or the new name of open reach who will send out the engineer. problems only arise if you use onetel cable or have a bulldog ( cable and wireless) line or ntl, telewest- bueyonder cable line.

if they had bt phone line and moved call billing to onetel then they will get eclipse or any isp no problem
