Nordic MF286D on eBay

Hi all, thought this might be of interest.

Family member needed a new LTE router, I've been using the Three supplied ZTE MF286D with Nordic firmware since @meritez released excellent info on flashing it.

They ordered this item:

It came with Three branding beneath the stickers and I was fully expecting to open it up and flash it up to Nordic from Three firmware but to my complete suprise it was already on the latest Nordic firmware (including latest modem not a part flash).

Obviously I can't guarantee they will all be like this but we ordered a grade C and it was like new just not in a Three box and with Eternal Communications stickers that were easily peeled off. A bargain at £50 if anyone needs one.

(PS bin the aerials that come with it, they made the signal worse in every test on every network tried on all of the networks).

For completion can you paste here full Nordic versioning?

There's updated b14 firmware available tonight and the device from eBay has failed the update so I'd say it's a fair bet these are running the half update that didn't update the modem if anyone has bought one and wondered why the update fails.

Have they posted what the updates are?

The above is a script that queries https://dmeu.ztems.com/zxmdmp/dm

Code:
#Set the added and modified parameters
nv set net_select="Only_LTE"
nv set default_lte_band_lock="0x2008080045"
nv set default_gw_band_lock="0x2000000400000"
nv set lte_band_lock="0x2008080045"
nv set gw_band_lock="0x2000000400000"
nv set fota_net_set="1"
nv set cr_version="Nordic_MF286D_B14"
nv set cr_inner_version="CR_TELIAMF286DV1.0.0B14"
nv set integrate_version="TELIA_MF286DV1.0.1B02"
nv set integrate_release_version="TELIA_MF286DV1.0.1B02"
nv set gsspone="ONW2Xh6dWMeFgj4biPKE"
nv set zte_dst_datastall_monitor_switch="1"
nv set DDNSProvider_default="no-ip.com;zoneedit.com;dyndns.org;freedns.afraid.org;"
nv set zte_syslog_enable="1"
nv set syslog_level="1"
nv set syslog_path="/etc_rw/log"
nv set key_local_id="0"
nv set key_syslog_name="key.log"
nv set key_syslog_size="512"
nv set cutoff_detect_switch="1"
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_url_0="8.8.8.8"
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_url_1=""
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_url_2=""
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_url_3="8.8.8.8"
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_ping_times="2"
nv set cutoff_net_link_detect_timeout="5"
nv set log_manage_switch="0"

So the above is interesting, as it's updating the modem code to b14 but is claiming to be b12 as the download.

I successfully updated my unit from B12 to B14 today.
I temporary had OpenWrt installed on it, so I manually flashed B12 mtd8 and mtd9 partitions from the console. Once the router was rebooted with "3" SIM installed it immediately started downloading the update. Then it asked whether I want to install it now or later. Another reboot and I have Nordic_MF286D_B14 running.

B32 was initially disabled as expected, the CA combo in use was B3+B1.
Then the well known JS hack was used to apply "Auto" band selection (where B32 is included) and the combo has changed to 15.0MHz@1800(B3)+20.0MHz@ where the missing band is B32 for sure - JS hack displayed MAIN:B3(15.0MHz) CA:B32(20.0MHz).
Another reboot to check - B32 is still in use. Job done.
