On the site's front page, we have the usual monthly poll.
Not for the first time, I am unable to vote.
1. Do you pay more for broadband now than a year ago?
No.
2. Are you happy with your current ISP?
Yes.
3. (I'll come back to this)
4. Do you plan to swap ISP in 2012?
No.
Now - question 3...
Which aspect of your ISP makes you least happy?
...and we get four choices...
(a) Support / Service Reliability
(b) Service Speeds
(c) Service Restrictions (fup)
(d) High Prices
Support is excellent, speeds are fine (with no noticeable evening slowdown), mine's a package with clearly defined peak and off-peak quotas (which are plenty for my needs), there's nothing theoretically "unlimited" but screwed up by some dodgy FUP or sneaky traffic management, and the price is lower than I'd budgeted for when I decided to ditch my previous ISP and started looking around for a replacement.
I cannot honestly say that I'm in the least bit unhappy with *any* of those four things listed.
The only logical thing to do is to skip question 3, right?
...but the damned stupid thing insists on me selecting something - skip question 3 and it won't allow me to vote at all, I just get a message telling me I've failed to complete it.
Any poll which insists on *all* the questions being answered *and* has no "not applicable" option is badly flawed and, frankly (not just on ISPr, I hasten to add), I am sick to death of wasting my time trying to take part in polls that I then have to abandon because of this.
(On a separate note, in relation to question 1, in my own case the ISP swallowed the VAT increase, but many did not, so you could get rather misleading results there because of the government putting the price up rather than the ISP!)
