NTL 1MB too expensive

mmm don’t really know but still cheaper tan BT. :p

I think they dont want more people on i mbit or some thing

Because there is no direct competition for the 1mbit service they can charge what they think a fair price and it so happens that £49.99 PM to them is a fair price.

Be thankful that at least we have the option to go to 1mb. May come down 1 day but in the meantime it is bloody good.

Do NTL pay people like Smudge and Willie to post on these forums?

They r a Salesman's dream is all i can say.

I wonder who the next company will be to rip you off, and if you'll even notice.

Smudge is quite right, there is no direct competition so its the companys right to charge whatever they want, that called capatilism.

Willie is alaso right, its better than a kick in the teeth...

If you dont like it, dont pay it, its your choice no one is forcing you. Yes you have the right to voice your opinion, as do I, but isnt it better to structure a post before going off half cock with meaningless and groundless comments. <img border="0" alt="[Shrug]" title="" src="graemlins/shrug.gif" />

That's BAD!

With my Wireless ISP £49,99 get me 2MB and £39,99 1MB

NTL are way out of touch!

I dont think £49.99 is that expensive for a permanent 1Mb connection, it is a premium connection so it commands a premium price. I think telewest are being foolish offering 1Mb so cheap, they need to recoup their money to pay off a growing debt.

As for wireless, what company are you using? Tele2? Look where they are heading. Companies need to make a profit on their products or they will go bust.

as people said before, 512k is a good connection for good money, if you want faster then you have to pay for it.

I agree tele2 are now not takeing any new customers because they cannot afford to service the existing one's. if we want a decent service we have to pay for it. you look at all the posta complaining about bad Customer services and support and its because every little ISP is trying to be cheaper than the rest. you get what you pay for !!!

America is starting to feel the pinch from offering cheap access even to the point of limiting bandwith to people unless they pay alot more. Considering a 'free 24.7' dial up is approx £10 for 56k, NTL are offering a good deal for a service nearly 20 times faster for only a 5x higher price.
Prices may come down in the future but this technology is still relatively new for us and is only really starting to take off - maybe a year or so things will change.
