NTL can u 512k + 512k + phone account??

lo any one who knows much about cable and ntl, can u tell me if it is possible to have 512k x2 as where i am moving i will need to have 2 seperate 512k lines, so they are in different rooms, i would want to have 512k in one room then 512k in another room, without having to network, are you able to do this on 1 account? so u pay something like £10 for phone, £25 + £25 for cable so its £60pm ? please help :)

well im not sure so dont quote me on this. ADSL is split from normal voice communication by micro splitters that go in your phone sockets yeah. So basically wherever theres a microsplitter you have ADSL.

So i would have thought all you would need is another ADSL modem and just plug it in to the socket and you have ADSL in both rooms. Just that maybe if your both using the line then the bandwidth would be cut between 2 PC's

I wouldnt think youd need to pay £50 (2 accounts) for it as you are still using the same phone number.

oh cable my bad. Have you tried to see if you can get a splitter so the cable goes from the set top box to the splitter then get 2 RJ45 cables to go from there into your ethernet cards. Its worth a try.

Im not sure if they will put another cable line into your home so you pay for 2. They would more than likely do it like that.

HTH

Connect the cable box to a router and then the two comps to that. You can also get wireless connections nor for networkin so no need for cables all around the house.

I understand what you're saying; you want two completely different 512K connections into your home, and not have the two connected in any way.

:)

i think its the same with blueyonder. im sure they said its all to do with "ticky" boxes on there screen! have you tried calling and asking them?

Mark, its the same with any cable co, and a lot of ADSL ISP's, as they think some people might misuse the privalidge and connect them together somehow to have the fast connection, or as it would mean bringing in 2 sets of fibre optic, its something they prolly dont want to do.

suppose theres some logic in there system.... i just cant find any. surley ISPs (especially with all there ££ hassle) would want as many customers as possible and by limiting the number of services they can have, there also limiting there income.

I have spoken to NTL and they have told me that u are allowed upto 3 boxes per household. Only problem is their is no discount for haveing more than 1:(

Thats right you will be able to open two accounts but you may need someone elses name on the 2nd Account, also you could go with the 1mb Cable Modem connection (its getting reduced to £35per month hopefully!) and use wireless network. Its really not that difficult to set up and you can get software so you can limit the speed to 512k for both computers, it may be worth considering as instead of paying £25 each you could pay £17.50, MUCH better price!

Good Luck!

dunno why ntl havent reduced the 1mb anyhoos, its already only £35 (£38 if no other telewest services) on Telewest
