Just to let you know that we are now launching WHAM...now to be called "ntl: Wireless Broadband". It's still early days, billing runs need to be sorted and we need to move onto 24 hour a day supported systems. But it is all happening and we're going to start taking on more "trialists" now.

It's going to be a soft launch with little publicity to start with, hopefully the numbers will increase just through word of mouth and a little advetising here and there.

So, now's the time to to tell your neighbours they can also join up. Just ask them to send their name, address, postcode and telephone number to wireless.trial@ntl.com.

What are the speeds?
How much is this "trial" going to cost?
Which basic area are we talking about here (countys)?

Oh and when exactly will the trial begin.

I wish NTL would come to Liverpool

Seems to be London only according to their web site. They appear to be taking more users onto the test nodes, that's all

I agree Rambo - Get it to us in Merseyside.

It isn't fair that all the new wireless services are offered in the South, all the time.

You are forgetting people in the North, as you seem to think we have less money to subscribe to services with.

I'll tell you something, shall I? We have more businesses and commerce in the North West, compared to London. London would be nothing without us - we are their backbone, and it's sad when we are constantly trampled on, and when people think London is a brilliant centre of commerce.

London produces very little - it makes money from tourists, and I'm afraid tourists don't have landlines to get broadband, so why don't you offer us services?

Too true i have to say.

I live in a large villiage in Wales, and well i have 64k ISDN, and looking at some posts earlier, ISDN upgrade on an exhcnage costed loads so why wont they upgrede to DSL?? its past me Econimially viable screams WE CNYT B ARSE to me , anyway, these companies is puttin wirelss in places that can gt DSL or cable which is a bit mad, i would quite happily pay about 150quid for installation and 30quid a month, cmon its ace, nice speeds and the benefit of wirless is that the Upload speeds is same as download, which is a nice added bonus improving online game play..... mmm this colege connection is nice, havent asked the IT man wot is lol, using college puter hegehehehe, dsooooooo fast compared to my ISDN 80(

I am certainly not going to enter into the economics and fiscal policies of london. But I have seen many of your comments both here and elsewhere over a very long period of time, maybe it is the age gap and your dreaming of 15 mins of fame. But if you check the 'southern' BT exchanges waiting for upgrades, plus those who will never get upgraded, against those in the 'North' as you put it, per population head /area. We have far less than you.

Our so called rural (most heavily populated southern and South eastern areas) have nothing, absolutley nothing, except bad roads, huge 'new' properties on green belt land to serve the wealthy northerner's, no buses, no new hospitals, few banks, no Post office's, an ill conceived notion on 2 way satellite (which I have - for business) which does very little to solve a solution. Remember the fast area of london is mainly a migratory working capital, millions go home each day to the rural areas to their 56k modems or if they are really lucky they may have ISDN, and if they are really really lucky maybe a litte cable or adsl. I waited 6 years to recieve ISDN,I have had it 7 days, and have already been ripped off by my umpteenth ISP. Yes I know all the regulars in here, who have suffered as well.

123ISP!well that is another story.

So next time stop the North / South divide bulls..t it does nothing for no one, your the type of person who will bring race into it next.?

It would help us all, if you were to spend more time trying to expand the Broadband in UK, start fighting for it, lobbying your MP, lobbying WI-FI companies, Lobbying EuroLand, visiting (or even better start one yourselve) other campaigning sites and join in.

And personally, a note which has a lot to do with 'Broadband Britain' well I say "send the current bunch of money grabbing half whit politicians back to where they came from, and lets have people in who can do the job". Now I wonder where the vast majority of this union led, lying, spin doctoring moronic lot came from.? Talk about calling the kettle black.!
