O2 Volt account never opened

So when I was re-contracting with Virgin I ordered the o2 sim with the intention of cancelling it straight away.
I gave them all the details to open the account, received the email saying my o2 identity has been created, and was told I would receive an email within 24 hours with all the details.

That was on the 13th March, 2 weeks later I've yet to hear a peep from o2, I log into my account and all that's there is o2 WiFi, I never received a sim card in the post or anything. Nothing from Monzo to say I'd set up a new direct debit.

Now, given I had zero intention of keeping the sim, do I just keep quiet? Or am I going to end up being bankrupted over a sim!

Anyone else had this issue?

Maybe they read your mind. They can do that with 5g you know, I read it on the Internet....
I’ve got a roll of tinfoil we can share.

I didn't see my direct debit setup on Monzo until the day before it came out, these billing systems are awful and it's entirely possible your SIM contract is setup on a different billing system and your accessing the other one

For example O2 currently have two customer-facing billing systems, their current (old) one and 360. Customers are getting migrated to 360, new customers don't always start on it, it seems.

It's also entirely possible your order never went through, I ordered online and had to chase them up 3 days later, when I did that the sales team pretty much created a new order for me.

I'd call them to make sure that you aren't getting billed for a service you don't have, but out of curiousity why would you cancel it if it's included for free in your Virgin package? Although shocking in the UK, an O2 sim is useful while traveling, the roaming is hard to beat

It's not free, it's £5 a month, I only went along because it was a better deal with the o2 SIM than without! Even after cancelling and potentially losing the VOLT benefits, I'd still be better off than going for a virgin plan without it.

I have no idea what plan it even is, they didn't tell me how much data, just that it was £5!

I think it's worth calling to see what happened then, you could be paying for it, past the 14 days and not even have the SIM

I remembered there was an O2 store 3 doors down from the spoons I was sat in so popped down and asked.

They saw that an account was set up but it was 'awaiting contract', and that the next bill would be £0.

He said he could finish setting up the account, or I could just 'forget about it' since my Volt benefits had already been applied. And if my Volt benefits disappear call back in and they'd sort it.
