Well I have read the full report from OFCOM as to why they decided it was not an anticompetitive move by BT to move every one from standard line rental to the Option 1 Tarrif with bundled disconted calls.
One has to wade through about a dozen pages of nonsense which fudges aroun the fundermental issue which is BT have Bundled in Discounted Calls in the Line rental. If someone uses a CPS provided or only uses there line for Broadband they see no benefit from this just a £1 price increase but if you are a BT user on Option 1 you get a £1 price cut. It is so obviously an anticompetitive move by BT to stop people leaving and going to CPS providers that you could not possibly miss it. In effect the CPS operators have been disadvantaged by £2 a month (This assumes BT customer on Option 1, if on Options 2 or 3 the saving by stayig with BT is even greater whilst if they were on the standard line rental they see a £1 inrease but get the benefit of the discounted call .
Read the full OFCOM fudge here. Mind you you will be none the wiser as to how OFCOM reached this decisions. I think its a case of trying to blind people with words jargon , bumpf and charts. I am sure you are familar with the Trombooning effect as OFCOM have considered that.
Anyway here is the link if any one is bored enough to read their fudge,
