I think Virgin Media will win head down easy on their average speed with both download and upload speed with the 50Mbps.

BT should forget ADSL2+ and go for the fibre optic instead or otherwise VM will bring superfast 100Mbps next !

That depends since VM's 50Mbps product is both new and quite small, thus their part of the sample size is likely to be proportionally less than those on the operators other 10 and 20Mbps packages. So in reality they might win on their overall network speed but O2 (Be Broadband) will probably be very close. I suspect that if other small ISPs are included then the big boys may be in for a wake-up call.
