OiNK users arrested under suspicion of "Conspiracy to defraud the music industry"
Poilce have started to target OiNK users who have been uploading pre-release albums, people have been arrested and are accused of "Conspiracy to defraud the music industry". Conspiracy to defraud is a very serious crime, which can carry a sentence of up to 14 years imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.
This is being treated deadly serious, and we cannot condone illegal behaviour, but I do have to think that the Police may have been pressured to act by the music industry, in particular the tough talking and seriousness the industry are making against OiNK users. Mind you, I have never been impressed with the Government and the close relationship they have with business and industry, to the detriment of the general public.
It's well known that this Government only cares for and panders to business and celebrity. It's amazing how if I wrote to get junk food banned from schools to my MP I would get nowhere but Jamie Oliver can change Government policy because of his status. Same with the Daily Mail and carrier bags and now it seems that the record industry can get the Police to get heavy-handed with uploaders and downloaders with ease whilst someone who is burgled or assaulted is not given the time of day.
Sadly, its a sad reflection on this Government and Police force if they only act in the interests of business and celebrities instead of the general populous who votes this Government into power.
Deadly serious action from the Police, but is it really necessarily to go down heavy handed on P2P users?
