Openreach civils

So long story short openreach missed a side road off a summer FTTP build, with my house at the furthest point on the missing road, with distances to far for the closest CBT, so wasn’t left intentionally.

Anyway all houses in the road where marked as 1stage installs, with 5 of us already each calling off fibre only for engineers to turn up and not be able to complete.

Am told by my provider, Vodafone, a civils job has been raised for the road, including new ducts and a CBT. I was told 2 weeks by my visiting engineer, another was told months for the works to get complete. Has anyone got experience of this? Will it be fairly quick? Or will it take months? It does feel like a cock up by the original installer's, our post codes are still all showing as 1 Stage , so people keep calling off not able to get it.

It could be weeks but I've seen it take months, there's no way to tell, this is OpenReach - they work at their own pace unfortunately.

Your job will now be in a tail workstack which in theory will have someone checking it daily , I would check one.network to see when the work has been permitted . It’s free to join and will allow you to look further ahead than a non registered user

You can look up to 12 months ahead as per the above - but do Openreach and Altnets get permits that far ahead ? The ones in the area I've been watching even for new installs only pop up a few weeks ahead of the start date where as gas and electricity works are on there months ahead of the start date.

Thanks everyone, i can see something is booked on the 18th December until the 22nd 👍

Really need to vent, Openreach appear so Teflon. The incomplete / incorrect work from back in July actually got brought forward initially from the 18th, or so they told Vodafone, but now it seems to be delayed until second week in January. I say it seems, as I can see from the websites listed above its moved to w/c 8th, but Openreach keep advising Vodafone earlier or completely different dates. You cant complain to Openreach directly as there is no mechanism for that apparently?, and whatever departments between the 2 that talk to each other seem clueless, grrrr its all so frustrating. Is there anyway way to escalate directly with openreach or am I stuck in between?

Who owns the road? Is it private or council?
It’s not uncommon for areas to have a civils embargo on all but emergency work this time of year until after the new year so that could be your hold up.

Hi its a council road, its only a side road but that could be the issue regards emergency work, that being said it was booked in initially for first week in December, then the 18th December now the 8th January.

What's frustrating is evening knowing that info, Openreach have been advising us through Vodafone all sorts of different dates, all whilst other 1 stage teams keep getting called out.

For the first time in my life i have sent a "CEO Email" lol
