Openreach Fibre - Internal Fibre Run

The nearest point to the internal wall does not have power. However about 6 feet away there is a double power socket where all my current BT Master socket and router sits. In between there is a door.
Will the Openreach engineer be prepared to run the fibre between the gripperod and skirting under the carpet. It's not in a stepped on area and the door sill has a strip of wood separating the lounge from the hallway which protects the fibre from being directly stepped on. Currently my Master socket has been extended along this very route by BT

Or will they run the fibre around the door frame bearing in mind the corners are not rounded of course

To the right where the existing BT master socket is, now extended to the left of the door, is the most likely entry point as to the right of that is the external wall. I could cut a channel in the concrete floor and bury a 7mm flexible conduit with a draw string for the fibre but that would be messy as you can appreciate

I very much doubt they'd run it under the carpet, as it's likely to get damaged and they won't want to lift carpet

I think they would run it around the frame, but the bend radius will mean it won't be tight into the corners

You are running significant chances of damaging the fibre cable asking for this. I wouldn't do it. Why not just buy a DC barrel extension cable. I bought this from eBay for £7 it works perfect

I have also used DC jack extension cable (normally for CCTV) at my daughter's and was ideal in her case because Hey! (FW) provided a very large Adtran ONT/Router/AX unit and the power was 2 metres away. Simply cleated to skirting.

The issue here is that it will likely be an OR ONT and either a co-located router or an ethernet cable to the current router's position. So either power feed has to be sufficient for both devices or it requires an ethernet cable to be run as well.

If you can't hide the kit elsewhere I'd personally install a thin cupboard (vented bathroom type) for the ONT/Router etc. But this really needs a permanent power point so perhaps a future project.

For the latter if you pulled back the carpet and created a very thin slot in the underlay you could possibly get a good grade small profile or flat ethernet cable under the carpet (carpet side of wall grippers). You could then use passive PoE to power the ONT. Try above the carpet first and make sure it all works ensuring there is not a noticeable ridge in bare feet!.

Installation of FTTP is definitely a time to radically consider where the entry point of our broadband is and where kit should be in the home, ignoring any telephony wiring (other than digital voice to existing phones).

So have a good think.
Are there alternative entry points?
What is on the other side of those doors?

Floor plan always handy showing any power sockets, boxed in risers etc.

I hate any sort of cable slung around door architraves, I know it's done, but it looks bloody terrible. My wife would also lynch me.

Do it properly. Hire a wall chaser for £30, stick your hoover on the end. You'll do that in 30 minutes.
