Openreach - no FTTP plan

Really 252 - 263 down and 38 - 40 up

That seems fairly stable to me TBH, I'd expect to see more variation in speeds caused by congestion at ISP and end server

I won't give up. I will carry on kept fighting my corner with Openreach, my local MP and Telford & Wrekin Council, I don't care if they ever get fed up with me. I suggest all Telford (Woodside & Madeley area) customers do the same too.

Hi. Could you explain why you, with solid 80/20 VDSL, 250/40 G.fast, Virgin Media and the Exascale build in progress, should have priority over people with no G.fast, Virgin Media, altnet build or even VDSL?

Given your area seems to be more expensive that many why should Openreach spend the extra money to reach you? What about your area is going to bring Openreach more money than some other area that's cheaper and faster to build to?

Basically: what's the social case for providing you FTTP, and what's the business case?

Yeah I suppose so but the G.fast are very expensive £56.99 per month for 330/50

Just checked BT Com for black friday deal. Seem they never bother do any deal for G.fast - only good deal for madness FTTP 500Mb for £30.99 rather than G.fast 330Mb at £50.99. rip off and conned

BT doesnt offer me that price as a non customer, the 500mb is £43.99 when I check my address. I have no idea where that price came from?!?
Hell the 150mb package is £33.99 a month.

Where did you get that price from?

FTTP will give you lower latency over FTTC and in the vast majority of cases s more reliable connection.

As noted up thread, I have also heard from OR people that where G.Fast exists this is a reason for FTTP rollout to be deprioritised at the current time for it to be revisited later.
Yeah, don’t think that’s the case. My road had g-fast installed 2 years ago (no one ever signed up for it) and we just had full fibre installed. I’m not particularly pleased with the install( they have fed all the poles overhead instead of underground ducts to cost cut, dispite the ducts being there). anyway, if that’s the price I pay for Fttp, then that’s fine. Previously they said they weren’t installing it at all. Seems a bit hit and Miss approach.

If your happy with speed of 80/20 there are deals to be had, what you save over a speedier package (that you may not need) could be put to more fun things

Agree, it's not a hard rule, but existing G.Fast a reason that Openreach network rollout can deprioritise an area

Openreach new checker via ispreview.co.uk headline today as it showing my house get 72 Meg instead of 80. My Sogea 80/20 are the max speed of 87/27. Also they updated G.fast 189/27 as my last G.fast was higher than that. Don't know why openreach couldn't get it right.

Surely it’s better to give a conservative prediction, rather than one which they could struggle to meet. Better to under promise and over deliver rather than the other way around.

Feel free to swop with me bulldog....also in Telford. Like in the centre not the sticks

Would love any options to be honest haha

Do you have VM available? If so pretty much same circumstances as me
No VM available also - we did enquire if they would extend as they are on the properties behind us approx 15meters away about a month ago but they have no plans too.

8-10Mbps ADSL with 700Kbps up

I do feel your pain. I think Openreach should have FTTP planning for your property soon rather than me because I can get 330 FTTPoD, 250+ on G.fast, 80 on FTTC and 1Gig Cable with VM in my property and this is probably the reason Openreach will not plan any FTTP until 2026 for my property.

Yeah, we looked at a CFP - only needed to find £212k with no properties falling as rural (under 20 properties) for grants or under the USO as we do occasionally sync above 10.

Exascale are too small to make a decent dent and concentrating where they can get grants. We also approached but things went quiet very quickly

Exascale told me they will roll out all over Telford but will take a long while within next 6 years! They doing in Hortonwood and Trench first. Their 150/150 for £28.99 a month are good price but shame we have to wait a very very long time!

Wait so your pestering your MP and openreach to get them to install FTTP even though you have a FTTP service available as well as G.Fast?!?!??!

Why oh why are you not on Virgin given they do cheaper, faster than 80/20 FTTC packages?!?
They are nearly as cheap as that deal you posted from BT (which I need a link for as I cant find it anywhere)

Virgin media? - No way! Used to be with them before. Very bad and always bad downtime with loss of broadband, badly congestion in my area.

For BT deal, you need act as a new customer in a full fibre area here: https://www.bt.com/products/broadband/deals enter your full post code and address.
