Orange line fault

My Orange internet connection has now been down for three weeks and two days due to an apparent fault on the line. I have made anything up to 20 phone calls to Orange and I'm variously told to wait 24, 48 and lately 72 hours as the engineers are working on the problem.

I am beginning to suspect that either they are lying to me about the problem or there is some hidden strategy to get rid of me – I get a free connection with my mobile phone account.

Surely a mere faulty line is routine stuff. I cannot believe the technology is so backward that it takes this long to fix.

My future's bright. But it's certainly not Orange!

My story Wake up on a Saturday morning strange no internet no phone nothing works so go out on way back notice my junction box has all the wires ripped out and rubbished so phone bulldog Tec people very helpful and get call back bt do not work on Sundays in my area but will come out Monday between 8 am and 1 pm bt arrive just before 10 am and sort it.

Follow up

It's now four weeks and last night I was told that all LLU customers have been switched off while a major upgrade is made since there were problems with the system.

Found this on another user group: Up to 60,000 Orange LLU punters were cut off on Monday by what is rumoured to be an "unauthorised" change to the network by an engineer working for Alcatel who manage the Orange LLU infrastructure.

I'm just now waiting to see if this resolves my problem.

My Orange service is also down, and has been for 3+ weeks. I've made more 20 or so calls and am always told to wait also. It's because of a "line fault" too. I don't have a free phone, so I shouldn't think it's delibrate to get rid of you. When I suggested cancelling the service they said it would mean a £130 cancellation fee!

I would raise a ticket requesting them to honour their side of the contract and supply you your internet. You have had none for 3 weeks and would class this as them failing to keep their side of the agreement hence no payment reqiured. Then contact trading standards, OFCOM and their ADR sending the same letter to all.

indeed why pay for a service they have failed to provide! no service = breech of contract which means they have invalidated their contract with you.

I suggested that to the customer support people - they said the technical support line section manager had to authorise a cancellation of the contract. The technical support line won't let me speak to a section manager, they just tell me to wait. It's really frustrating trying to reason with the mindless automatons there, if's it's not on the cribsheet, they don't want to know.

Thanks for the advise, will write some letters to TS, Ofcom etc today.

Keep a copy and send one recorded delivery to Orange letting them know you are sending the same to TS, OFCOM and their ADR service.
