Ordered BT 'Faster broadband' aka FTTC, but too far from ze cab!

is the prediction!

The lady on the phone kept getting confused between MB and Mb though, which really irritated me. Once I told her MBps was misleading and I'd contact the executive office, she quickly stopped though!

I think you should be ok but just on the limit of min 12 meg.

They accepted they order, but are now trying to double charge me line rental. I paid for a year's up front when I migrated to BT, and now they want to charge me 14.99 per month! Their system had real trouble at multiple steps of the order process, so gawd knows!

I wasn't confident that they were not going to double-charge me on line rental (when I had pre-paid line rental saver) that I recorded the conversation :)

Even though the order confirmations look like they might be charging you line rental - they didn't actually do it in my case.
I thought I would wait until they did double charge me rather than try and complicate things mid-order as that often causes even more problems when BT are concerned.

Already contacted them about it using the social media email form!

EDIT: BT confirmed that the line rental charge was added in error.

Many years ago I too was a BT retail customer, before the wonders of LLU, and it was always the poor admin that made life problematic. Basic billing errors, a failure to remember requests or agreements that had previously been reached.. etc. I've never once experienced any of those problems in all the ISPs I've passed through since, even the bigger ones.

On one occasion they added a premium service to our bill that we've never requested. It took a month before they agreed to remove it, which was harder back then as the rules governing consumer protection were wafer thin. As per Tom's comment, these days I always make sure to record and log any agreements.. just in case.

Expecting the worst and preparing for that helps you to avoid being cheated in the future because somebody, somewhere, will always try to rip you off.

The HomeHub 5 arrived today. The cab wiring's supposed to be done on Wed.

In the meantime, the profile for my line has dropped to 6.5mbps from 7.15 and the contention seems to have gone though the roof during peak times. Hoping that this FTTC proves to be a 'solution'
