Hi Alex welcome to the forums, I have sent you a PM hope that they contact you.

As Ouranos is the Greek God of the Sky, perhaps worshiping in an upwardly direction will work.

Failing that, try human sacrifice, I have an ex-wife you can use...........

Have been following this saga closely (ex Aramiska victim). I have little confidence that Ouranos have any more intention of dealing honourably with their clients than the late and unlamented Aramiska. I was a client of Aramiska and was contacted by Ouranos. I asked for tos etc and nothing was ever forthcoming. I understand (from another forum) that crippling terms and steep price increases have been offered to ex Aramiska unfortunates.

As an Ouranos (and ex-Aramiska) customer, I was dismayed to see that Belgacom have withdrawn the satellite service from Ouranos effectively making them an SPas theey have lost the "I" part ;-). I have tried to get hold of them by fax, email and telephone to no avail, so as of 6pm today, I will be cancelling my contract under their Force Majeure clause in teh contract (Article 12.2 if you are interested) and start looking for another providor.

Any suggestions for a new supplier as this is the second time in 6 months I have been cut off???

I am currently with a two way supplier ("Broadbandwherever" - RF Communications). I find it expensive and slow browsing. I am considering changing to skyDSL for down and ISDN for up.
Have a look here... http://www.teles-skydsl.co.uk

 Spooky! I was just looking at that page! This does seem like a decent option although I am unable to confirm if access to newsgroups is possible.

Another option I have looked at is Avanti Broadband. Their service is a similar DVB-RCS based system using a newer 1 box Newtec IDU. OK you either have to buy the kit or they will rent it to you at £100 per month but the service costs are about £100 pm cheaper than Ouranos!!!

They are also part of the group who beam that anoying muzac into pubs, supermakets and provide radio services to shopping centers. This must be profitable as they have commissioned their own satellite to launch in 2 years time.

Decisions, decisions......

Satellite Broadband

Hello........Me again back in the forums. Nice web page update Kits BTW and i saw isp review on NTL advert last night on ITV.

I have a question:
If i knew some one who had the resources to implement a Broadband service for Satellite users based on an Aramiska style offering but using better equipment would there be any interest?

What would be the expectation i suppose i am looking into from the public. I mean being burned twice in the sat market really has not done the industry any good or for that matter the end user, i mean talk about devastating!

I am not assoiciated with any company offering any satellite based internet service but i am in the broadcast industry and people are talking and it would be nice to see some action for the all the talk. What people have to think of is small, growing services not huge outlay style Aramiska offerings. The type where service to the customer is the priority as well as keeping a stable platfrom that makes a profit. And before any one jumps on that comment if there is no profit there is no investment so it dies like Aramiska.

I would like to measure the interest in starting a service. there will be no details of who what where or when. This forum is not for that but i would like to see what the interest would be. I am trying to think of a way of getting this information with no contact details (anon) type so as not to promote or build a contact database. So i pressume a poll?

Kits? any ideas on a poll?

This is a real interest and i expect i will get the usual invasion of comments on why who and who the +++ are you? but that aside.... If there is a need then it can be done.

I await your reply on a poll Kits?

You saw us on an advert for NTL? What was that? I'm guess not something done by NTL itself because they're not exactly well liked :) .

Anyway, you're welcome to start a poll asking for feedback, although any requests for personal details are ultimately down to reader choice and not under my control. I can not vouch for anybody.

PS - I do all the main website work.

Sounds like a plan. I'm a bit nervous about getting bitten yet again though!

Interestingly, I have heard nothing back from Ouranos since I served the Notice to Quit. I they were likely to get up and running again, I would have expected some sort of effort to retain my custom

When you start a thread it gives you the option of adding a poll. :)
