Pass on NetServices comlaints to Watchdog

If enough of us end users of NetyServices products who have been affected by the outrageous goings on of late complain to BBC's watchdog then there is a chance that they may take up our cxase this week. What NetServices are attempting to do is surely against the Monopolies rules! It only takes 2 mins to fill out the form on the Watchdog page.

Working Lunch BBC2 Monday 20th

They are showing a report on the V21 subject shortly (program on right now)

0845 dial up: 3p a minute!

Nothing new in working lunch, no real investigation, and no guilty sides.

One thing that perhaps the admin of ISP Review might want to put in the main page, is that an 0845 dial up is NOT free, as it has been said everywhere: sure, no subscription, but it will cost you up to 4p in the day time (depending on telephone calls provider) and at least 1 p a minute evening and weekends, and some providers will add an initial connection fee. If people use this for the normal internet business they will run up bills of 30-40 quid or more in a very short time (remember the old days with dial up?).

Biscit could at least have offered a trully unmetered dial up, rather than a "free" 0845 that you can get from tons of providers, and that only will bring more costs to users.

I am writting this as there is no way an 0845 number can be offered as unmetered at no cost to the user.

I would advise people to sign for a one month free with AOL dial up instead (that's really free, as paying nothing per minute) and cancel just before the end of that trial month, if their situation is sorted by then.

http://info.aol.co.uk/dial-up/anytime-dial-up.adp?promo=228937&promoCode=228937

(Please note the promo code is not a referrral, it's the only way to get the link working. It's an internal AOL reference, and nothing to do with myself in any way)

AOL is known too for offering excellent deals for broadband for people in this kind of situation, when explaining matters on the phone (such as 1Mb broadband for only £9.99) but as said before you can always simply cancel your dial up with AOL before the free month ends and sign for the broadband provider of your choice when your line is clear.

It hadn't occurred to me that it was on here too, I emailed Computeractive this morning complaining about their report, and they have already removed the word 'free' from it. I have also reported V21 to Trading Standards. They recommend I also complain to CISAS, which I will do next.

I would suggest if anyone has been duped into using a 0845 number thinking it was free they contact Ofcom and ask them to do something to get this corrected on the biscit - V21 website immediately.

V21 might also be liable for consequential costs caused by their breach of contract with customers, which means you might be able to recover these phone costs - however I fear there may be little prospect of this because I have read elsewhere that someone has be told by the credit card provider that V21 are in liquidation. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3487935&postcount=19

I watched that and they didnt seem that bothered about what is happening or even look in to the bigger picture.

It's a pity they didn't more complaints from ex-Fast24 customers and notice the Ezee - netservices connection.

I'm afraid on a scale of 0 - 10 for investigative reporting that gets a -1.

Fingures crossed that they pull the stops out and look into it further now and give Ofcom the roasting they deserve for their anti-consumer regulations.

I tried Ofcom after CISAS, neither seemed to have a clue what to do, neither could do anything about it. I guess Trading Standards are our best bet, they are the only people so far to even agree to look into it.

That and we can email anywhere we see the press release quoted, and ask them to change it.

I thought the working lunch thing was pretty hopeless! They had the 0845 written in huge letters on the screen, read it out, and still announced it was free! They got the date of cease wrong (25th instead of 24th) and seemed to be telling people that they could apply to a new isp on that date.

I think that's an understatement, I guess they didn't have much time to look into it, but they should have at least checked on their facts.

Don't give up on Working Lunch though, email them and give them the full facts and I'm pretty sure they'll do a proper follow up. I'd really love to see someone senior from Ofcom being made mince meat of by Adrian Chiles on the programme.

You may want to mention that E7even customers had the same Sleezey problem back on 1st July this year so it is not as if Ofcom couldn't have predicted it would happen again http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=e7even&Number=2541042&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1

I agree the programme was a joke.

Check out my post in general comments about a great 'no MACs' PR campaign.

If only I had the money and time to do it.
