I wonder if anyone can help. I have a laptop with XP pro SP2 office etc etc. My problem is the fan on it. It goes at a fair rate of knots after 1.5 hours. However, sometimes it sounds like a helicopter. God knows what the RPM of the fan is.
This usually when I'm either opening up another browser window or saving something to the HD. Nothing unusual you may say. Well sometimes the fan can go upwards over an hour/2 hours. Then when I shut the pc down. It gets to the log out stage with the fan going like a banshee. Then after waiting sometimes 5 minutes. I give up and turn the battery off.
I think some of the system files have become corrupted and the processes that they're controlling are just not finishing. Therefore the PC keeps trying to complete the task.
Could anyone offer me any advice please. Would be grateful.
