Hi, I use to be use Norton Ghost 2003 and Norton Ghost 10 as they do sometimes failed to recovery pc after backup.

I saw that every pc's at pcworld already had a special backup from softthinks program that will create a recovery cd or dvd to backup the whole system as it quite good, I have search for that program but none of them are not available to buy that program.

Does anyones know of great pc backup that will automatically restore pc like a recovery cd or dvd to reload the pc back to where the last time of backup.

I heard of some program called Farstone RestoreIT Pro is should be good program but I don't want to purchase it if things go wrong.

I had try Paragon, Acronis, Drive Image, Norton Ghost and they all not always working out well.

PCWorld told me that every pc's purchase from pcworld use a very special program that will backup into cd or dvd and will guarantee 100% restore it without any error or failed.

Farstone RestoreIT is available on a trial basis so that maybe a route to explore. I do have contacts at PC World as I used to work there so I will make some enquiries. I have to admit tho that I have never heard of Farstone RestoreIT but I will download it and give it a go.

There is also Retrospect which I have installed, where from the point of wiew of backing up, it appears quit simple to operate. I cannot, however, vouch for it since fortunately I have not required to restore my system.
It may be worth a look.

Let me know what pcworld say about softthinks program and where to get it from ?

I had download RestoreIT as it sound good to me. There is also got Farstone DriveClone on it too. I might try that as well. And test it on my spare hard disk to see if it work.

Will let you know what I think of both of it RestoreIT and DriveClone.

Farstone RestoreIT is very good as it had extra feature such as recovery cd/dvd to back up the whole hdd and can restore it to new hdd or same hdd from the bootable recovery cd/dvd.

Here is my test result:

backup of my hdd (wins xp with drivers, updates) 4GB into one dvd lasted 23 mins backed up.

restore from my dvd into blank formatted hdd 10GB and had restore wins xp with drivers, updates of 4GB from recovery dvd to hdd lasted 15 mins.

Great program. I probably purchase it. Because backup and restore only on trial for 28 days limit.

I rated RestoreIT 10 out of 10 - great and brilliant program. Easy to use.

I still use Norton Ghost to backup (my C: of 8Gb) from one HD to another, process takes around 6mins to backup & about 4 to restore.

As I have over 500Gb of data on 3 HDs, there is no way I'd want to backup to DVD unless I really had to. I backup all my important data to another 2 HDs, 1 of which is networked.

As for the PC World claim for 100% guaranteed success, I'd like to see that tried on a failed HD
