Pda

Im constantly wandering about the office, making notes on bits of paper.

Im wondering if a PDA would fulfill this role, as Im fed up of having notes lost and just keep flying about.

I know what PDA's are supposed to do, but I want to know from people that have used them.

I want to be able to write and draw quick notes, and the PDA will be in my pocket for most the working day.

Would a PDA be able to do this, or are they just not that good yet? And I know it depends on what model and battery etc, but whats the general lasting time of a single battery of the recent PDA's?

Cheers.

There ok (i have a HP5550) although making notes quickly is not as easy as you first think. It your pda has good hand writing recognition i guess this would be easier. Have you thought about the possibility of a Tablet PC or somthing? My Ipaq lasts ages on a good charge and only starts to suffer when your using the WiFi or Bluetooth facilities.

No, it has to be pocket sized that I carry around with me. You can use the stylus to sort of 'type' cant you? As Im only after it for small notes (hardly even sentances) that wouldnt matter so much.

Thanks for the info though.

If anyone else has opinions, please let me know.

Old dude,

Can I suggest the i-Mate JAM because, despite being a 'PocketPC Phone Edition', you don't have to use the phone features (added bonus) and it's one of the smallest/most functional PDA's in the world with good battery life and clear screen.

I own one myself as a replacement for the SE P900, it's much smaller (slightly heavier), looks better and is a fully fledged PocketPC PDA to boost. I love the thing, in fact I've never loved any PDA/Phone hybrid so much ;).

I do everything on it:

Nice, and almost what Im looking for, but just abit too expensive, and has lots on it I wouldnt use.

Looking for something with a bit less bells and whistles, but as small would be nice, tho a decent sized screen is a must.

Nice PDA tho, dont suppose they do one thats a non phone version? ;)

Slightly off on a tangent, but if you can live without the drawing feature have you considered some kind of dictation device ? Many flash MP3 players allow voice recording ...

I have a Zaurus PDA but wouldn't really want to try using it for general handwriting input - I'd much rather use a pen and small writing pad. :)

Old Dude, i'd get yourself down to the local pc world and have a go with a few PDA's, then if you find it suitable go online and buy the thing much cheaper. I spent ages testing loads of them before i decided to buy mine.

Good idea, I could do, but it will have to be the weekend due to work.

Bob, I been using a pad for ages, but feel its daft wasting all that paper and using it that way, when I could be using technology for it. Also, being able to transfer what I have written/drawn to pc would be a huge bonus.

The top of the page.
If its as good as my workmates (which is an asus) then it should do. Im seeing if I can find it cheaper anywhere at the mo, but still looking into it all.

Got a N30, but can anyone find a stylus? The one you get with it is both metal and plastic, which is a lesson in stupidity, as needless to say it breaks.

Likewise, a cradle rather than a wire would be nice, but if anyone has the same series and knows where to get a decent stylus, Id be grateful.

Looked on the Acer website and ebay, no joy.

Thanks, but they are not going to fit in the PDA. Its just a large pen thing really.

I contacted acer UK, lets see if they have anything.

Any idea where I could get a small metal stylus made??
